A couple things about this.

#1 -- This is about affiliate marketing excess. I would argue that affiliate marketing is not passive income at all. A lot of affiliate marketers I know are very sharp and work really hard. Certainly the 'super' affiliates do. Ethics aside, all very smart people. Working from home or for yourself does not put you into the passive income category

#2 -- There are far more ways than affiliate marketing to make 'passive income' and to even make 'passive' income its very difficult and takes a lot of work. The highs are high and the lows are low and it takes a while. Unless you actually bring value quickly in which case you can get to things sooner.

#3 -- Not all stories end this way. A lot of people are smart with their money and know what they're doing and have created real value for their customers. I speak from experience.

TL;DR -- this is not about passive income rather affiliate marketers.
