Ask HN: How long does it take to learn how to code well

Enough to be a pretty competent full-stack rails coder?

Let's say hypothetical person: above 130 iq, pretty good at math but not any crazy math guy, logical thinker, can dedicate 40 hours a week. Is this possible in a year? 2 years? Or is it like a sport... it takes a talented person 10,000 hours to kinda get good enough to start their own startup?

Let me know how you guys got started and how long it took.
