Ask HN: What do you guys consider traction?

1) No one could really tell me what an absolute number was that would define traction at an early stage for my business. How would you define traction for your business and what kind of business is it?

2) Do you just know that you have an "it" product? Lot of people claim they spend $0 or did nothing on marketing but I think that's pretty much a lie. Having celebrities/PG/influential bloggers tweet out to millions of their fans is definitely something. Do some sites/apps just take off without any marketing initiatives? (month 1 - 10 or after you've already acquired your first 10,000).
