The initial request was entirely reasonable. The maintainer in question himself indicates later that the request should have been honored....but he does so only after his erroneous judgment and reasoning (if you can call it that) has to be repeatedly pointed out to him. Then his "response" smacks of nothing more than after-the-fact attempted rationalization for his behavior, followed by just...petulance.

If he worked for me, he'd have been fired. He's the only one who went "ape-shit".
