Most of it is because of Atlanta district. Palmetto is a major crisis that everyone is just ignoring. Prior to this year we never had much issues at all. Thousands of packages with maybe 1 missing because it was stolen after delivery. The problem now is all of our missed packages are sitting in a bin at palmetto indefinitely pushed into a corner. DeJoy needs to be fired but no one wants to do their job I guess.

I mail products every day through USPS just like a million other businesses. We resend about 1/25 packages every single day due to it being indefinitely delayed beyond some reasonable time line. We just eat the loss and move on, USPS is absolute disaster right now. I didn't even think about voting mail in ballots. That is going to be a major problem if the vote is close.

97s | 1 year ago | on: Apple loses top phonemaker spot to Samsung

I had a top tier Samsung phone the s22ultra. Within a little over a year the service basically stopped working. Samsung had tons of reports of other s22ultra with the same problem. Samsung basically said no refund no exchange. You can trade it in for 400 towards a new Samsung. This was a 1000+ dollar phone that barely made it past warranty.

I will never ever use a Samsung again. It was my fault for not checking the warranty. I should have known better when a 1000+ flagship phone only has a one year warranty it can't be very good, right?

I now just buy cheap phones cause that experience ruined me. Their support was so bad and they didn't care at all about the forums of people with the exact same issues. I don't know how this company is top seller. This surprises me so much.

97s | 1 year ago | on: Does America suddenly have a record number of bees?

Exactly this. Thank you. I have a bee friendly yard in suburban neighborhood with HOA. I keep the front streetside nice and neat for the HOA, but the side yard and back yard is full of clover, a plot of wildflowers, blueberries, blackberries, apples, and a lot of flowers for birds and butterflies. The total amount of effort and cost for all this? Maybe a few hundred dollars over a few years and very minimal work. Turns out that the stuff bees like are basically weeds and will establish and come back with basically no effort at all. The hardest part is stopping the stupid bermuda grass from overtaking it.

I cannot wait for my wildflower plot to shoot up. This year I turned over about 10m x 10m of bermuda grass and sewed a southeastern wildflower mix. I left the center of it grass and a path into it. I plan to go lay down and meditate in the wildflower patch while the bees zoom over head.

My son and I both cried. Imagine going to a Godzilla movie and then crying. I am huge Godzilla fan and it was the best one I have ever seen.

It is frustrating isn't it to watch people back when we played idolize it as some glorious career, when it reality it is probably one of the most stressful, depressing and negative jobs mentally a person can have. The variance and amount of hands required to overcome it with skill can be a living nightmare to work through. I can't imagine playing when you played. It was pretty easy back when I did it, but still taking peoples money by isolating bad players with addictions wore me out after a while. I am happy to have played and the skills and determination I learned there helped me throughout the rest of my life. I run my own business from home now and I am much happier. I am glad you found some peace as well.

97s | 2 years ago | on: Quitting the full-time poker scene

I played back during the glory days of 2000-2004 and through the net-teller shutdown for America. Back then the money was absolutely absurd, because the game was very new online and very few people understood basics. This combined with the massive amount of marketing that was going on for television, tons of people were addicted to the thrill of the game.

Every single year the game became more difficult as more people studied and I continued to move up into higher and higher stakes. At one point I looked at how much money I had made/compared to how much I hated what I was doing and decided that I was done. People around me never understood why I quit because they knew me and the amount of income I had made, but the thing is no one can understand what it is to live on a grinders schedule like that.

I would get up at 10-11AM study the hands from the previous day to make sure I was playing correctly mentally, read over new material, review a partners hands as we both did each others to confirm playstyle and decisions were correct, around 3PM I would start scouting tables across various levels looking for soft players that I had datamined information about. Around 4-5PM I would start playing and continue to add tables with soft players and immediately leave any tables that didn't contain any soft players or they had busted. This table hopping and monitoring is absolutely exhausting, but critical to being as profitable as possible.

Repeat this until about 11PM. Then go to sleep until 4AM, get up and play against the players on the other side of the world as they were starting to play loose. Play against them until about 7AM, then go to sleep and get up around 11. Repeat. Do this for 4 years and almost anyone will decide enough is enough even with the amount of income I was making back then. The only rest I took was on weekends, just to remove myself mentally from the exhaustion.

Of course poker is much tougher now then it was then. I wouldn't even dream of trying to play now. I was maybe upper 85-90% player, now I would be in the lower 50%.

97s | 3 years ago | on: Arduino Uno R4

I know a lot of people above don't think it means much, but I built a machine from scratch(for my business equipment) with no knowledge of any of this stuff using Arduino and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.

There is something to be said about making hardware and software interface so easy like they have done. I would have never achieved this in the 3 month period as quickly as I did without Arduino. Super excited for this new Uno.

97s | 3 years ago | on: Google urges Android phone users to switch off Wi-Fi calling

I am not sure I understand this. I have a S22 Galaxy Ultra. I do not see anywhere in my settings to turn on or off wifi-calling. Did we already get an update disabling this? I have googled this for about 10-15 minutes now and none of the results match anything to do with my screen settings.

97s | 3 years ago | on: Nokia launches DIY repairable budget Android phone

Yea I mean I get that, but I had my pixel 2 for over 5 years. Without repairing it at all. I assume my samsung S22U will also last 5+ years. So I just don't see the point of repair-ability if the support cycle is only 3 years. What is going to break in 3 years of a cell phone unless its very poorly made?

97s | 3 years ago | on: I deleted all my social media 3 yrs ago and I hardcore regret it everyday

The time consumption was a big one for me. It is easy to underestimate how much time 30 minutes a day is in 10 years. People always talking about how they have no time etc. But if you can gain 30 minutes a day for something you really enjoy you can become so skilled at it and really enjoy it deeply much faster if you abandon any interruptions to that thing.

97s | 3 years ago | on: I deleted all my social media 3 yrs ago and I hardcore regret it everyday

I feel like the issue with social media is you are not really social at a level that is helpful or relationship building. It is more of an observation of your friends doing things. That really isn't a friendship. A friendship is about connection and communication on a level deeper than what social media provides.

97s | 3 years ago | on: I deleted all my social media 3 yrs ago and I hardcore regret it everyday

Hi. I am not bragging, just sharing opposite experience. I found it refreshing to view things in my own light and no be influenced by others as much. Observing my friends or social media people doing things and living their life was not really living mine, so I just self corrected every time I noticed until I didn't have to anymore. Sorry for the late reply, just now checking HN after my original post.
