I have been through enough companies that grow and layoff people to be immune from it. It would impact me, and I feel bad for the people that did get impacted by this. The writing on the wall for me was when Elon took over the company and told everyone to come in over the weekend and print their contributions. That to me signalled ok give me my package. It ended for me there. I know my self worth, and know working more hours per week does not make you a better developer. It does the opposite actually.

One of my initial managers when I started working almost 20 years ago said to me that developers and code is like artists. You cannot just tell someone sit down and write code, or you will get the Walmart paintings. Creativity cannot be turned on, bam write code for me. Make this piece of software.

The point that I am trying to make is that employment should be a transaction. That is why you sign the contract when you get hired. When it is not beneficial to you or the company that contract is terminated. I have no loyalty and always question if this is the best situation for me. Am I learning? How is the work I am doing benefiting me? How is the company benefits helping my family? It is selfish but I think that is the way to look at it, since the company is selfish as well.

I agree, as long as our interests match we good.

I always told my managers to text or email me so I do not have to get out of bed. I will send you my laptop and we good.

I am ... unique in this. I know that most people do not like this situation and would feel betrayed. You cannot have loyalty to corporations, they are there for their interest. You have to follow yours all the time as well.

I have the same problems and it enraged me. It enraged me to the point where I back flashed the nvidia and blocked all domains to .google.com at the pihole for that mac address. Above that all NAT for DNS and blocking DoH and DoT. I do not need "new firmware" versions as the software I run on nvidia shield is just fine.

I unlock the shield, manually install the apps I want updated and ignore the rest. It has no external internet so meh if its got zero day exploits open.

It allows any nodes to validate the validator, they can call out anyone out by doing their own computation for the transaction. If they find a bad actor the stake that bad actor put is lost and goes towards the "whistle blower" node in their wallet.

It is based (on my reading of it) on the notion that there are many more good actors then bad. I wonder if you can get in a situation where someone spams bad actors and fudges all the transactions.

I think you are removing the act of raising a child which its success in today's world is purely monetary. If you cannot afford to feed yourself how are you going to afford the doctors, diapers, extra room, school, clothes, etc. etc. Strangers are not going to help raise the child, like back in tribe ages where there so many children that everyone in the tribe had a part. The social benefits from government when you have a child are abysmal even in the "good" states in America.

When discussing value of life people usually pick their preferred side. Do homeless people have a value on life? America treats homeless as garbage. What about disabled people?

Because corporate capitalism and investors expect ever higher returns. So a company that does good at what it does needs to look at new revenue sources to please investors which after a while just does mediocre at everything.

It is amazing that one of the outcomes of the Russian-Ukraine war is helping de-globalize. I for one welcome more north american (canada, united states and mexico) manufacturing even if it costs more. We need to look at the supply chain stability as a national security effort.

Exactly, the RCMP has not been guiding the banks to freeze the accounts [0]. RCMP and Banks state accounts for donors will not be frozen [1]. At worst RCMP can advise the banks which makes the decision (source from Federal MP) [2].

The government is also working on a plan where you can appeal your account being frozen.

No we do not meet with terrorists. That is what the occupation was, terrorists harassing, intimidating and torturing the businesses and residents of Ottawa.

I think everyone has a right to protest, peacefully, and many have in Ottawa. None of them terrorized the city for 3 weeks. Before you say that it was a "peaceful" protest note that there are many types of terrorism [0] and this occupation fits into "Civil disorder – A form of collective violence interfering with the peace, security, and normal functioning of the community.".
