I love this! Not sure why you would need this, as the desktop app seems to be a lot more performant, but am a big fan of offering everything as a webapp.

If you want to keep that performance but still want HN to be a bit more "appealing", try a browser extension. This way it looks nicer but the styles are stored locally.

Agreed, and this needs to stop in my opinion. The EU makes an enormous amount of money by suing tech-giants over and over again without doing enough research to know what companies in this sector are doing.

There was a very active theory on HN that stated, Microsoft did switch to Chrome just for the V8 Features especially regarding Desktop-Apps and web rtc. The next new thing will probably be Skype (for business) to switch to electron.
