The ability to "favorite" threads would be nice as well.

another way you can go about it is just store things locally on a client machine.. although you may need to explain that unless they sign up their notes will not be saved globally.

I think it is geared more towards mobile apps, which rely on remote db calls anyway.

on: The reverse job applicant
You are right. You don't have to. You're (or is it your) probably don't have the time for it, cause u have a pile of resumes that u need to go through and filter out the keywords... If I came across this link and I was hiring, I would be interested to know more.. Why? Cause I am intrigued.. Cause the person stood out for me... The approach is creative, unique and definitely ballsy... Should all of that suggest that the candidate is worth the position.. of course not.. but he proved that he can be unique and exercise creativity, I would want to know more, while leaving the task of filtering out the keywords from the resumes to recruiters who don't know sh... (shtuff is a word) :)

on: Why the obsession with EXIT strategies?
I understand all the reasons for the exits and I realize that proper exit strategies must be planned ahead of time. The reason I opened this thread was to ask whether the effort and popular obsession with exits is something that needs to be done/thought of prior to starting to work on the startups? Is proper exit strategy is a deal breaker for starting a company... I believe there might tons of reason for an exit once the startups becomes a sustainable business (as many of u pointed out)... But unless u are a investor or a seasonal entrepreneur is it something that u need to be obsessed with when planning your startup?!

on: Ask HN: Considering quitting my day job to work on my startups
I understand. You are gunning for either all or nothing... I just wanted to point out that perhaps u can strike an in between option.. which might benefit all at the end and make it a win-win given the circumstances.

on: Ask HN: Considering quitting my day job to work on my startups
I chose to quit my full time job for the benefit of my own startup, the difference was I hated the company that I was working for and I hated the job... In your case I would suggest to look into a part time deal. It seems like you have a good rapport with your employer and u have the integrity and the dignity to realize what is fair and such... See, if u can reduce your involvement with your employer to say 30%.. Just a thought.
Good Luck!

on: Why the obsession with EXIT strategies?
I think there are many other factors that will attribute to scaling and growth beside the exit strategy.

on: Why the obsession with EXIT strategies?
The fact that the person that founded the company might not be the right person to run it after a certain period, I think it is a very valid point... Still, in my humble opinion I personally think that thinking or discussing the exit strategies before u actually found a company is a disservice to yourself.. sort of demonstrates that one is obsessed with the "desired" outcome and not so much with the opportunity to make something better, which makes the loyalty to the startup idea somewhat questionable.

For the second company, did u plan for an exit right from the start?

on: Ask HN: Did anyone read The Four Steps to the Epiphany?
I think it is a necessary one, my only hesitation was whether the book that was published in 2005 about the subject, hence probably written in 2004, was still worth reading today :)

on: Canadian Startups kick ass
A major problem in Canada in my humble opinion is a lack of or alternatively a very poor startup ecosystem... unfortunately Canadian society is still very much conservative in that regard and it is not very welcoming towards startups and in turn startups have a somewhat negative connotation. That's a shame of course... we have lots talent and very intelligent folks around here..

on: Why do Startups Fear their Idea?
I don't think that fear is the driving force for the added features... Not at all... Many startup founders get to the realization that they want to venture on their own because they feel that their day jobs constrain and bore them... So, when they finally start working on their own startups, all the gloves are off... they feel like they finally can utilize 100% of their potential and creativity... I believe that is the core reason for all those extra features the author has mentioned. At least it was true in my case :)
