"being tough on Russia" is very far from "aggressively rallying for war with Russia".

"Shadow DOM" has the wrong description, I think:
"Web Components is a suite of different technologies allowing you to create reusable custom elements — with their functionality encapsulated away from the rest of your code — and utilize them in your web apps."

This poll only had about 400 self-selected participants. That doesn't make for reliable numbers at all.

The book by DFW sounds interesting, but all I could find is "Everything and More: A Compact History of Infinity". Is that it?

Sometimes Hacker News feels like a really cold place. Today is one of those days - and the tone of this discussion is why I'm shuddering.
Please tell me that you at least so much as hesitated an instant before you typed "embryo hacking", please?

Watch the series "Dollhouse" for a similar topic. Bonus: It's by Joss Whedon, so you should watch it anyway! ;-)

It is called DNS in German, with the S standing for "Säure" (acid).

The world has changed significantly since the 70ies, when such a moratorium worked. I don't think that it would in today's world, where information is more free than ever.

The opposite is true.
It is very hard to fire someone in Germany, at least compared to the US. When you compare the situation in Germany with that in Italy however - yeah, then you're right.

It's reset to English every hour. I've now reset it manually.
But you're right, the user should be able to select the language on the online demo before login. I will add this to my TODOs. Thx!
One of the burdens that comes with more than 40 locales... ;-)

German is longer than English, but there are other languages where the difference is even more noticeable, e.g. French.

Since I'm German, this is probably at least the reason why I found it so easy to accept this construct, when I stumbled upon it in Ender's Game. It just felt natural, so my brain decided to use it in English, too. :)
