I think you miss out if you feel that this is a win when doing PHP.

You also need to do backups, try restore, you might need to announce a maintenance window.
And for what? Getting stress from mgmnt when it breaks? With a GitHub downtime that's just it. No one cares, everyone accepts it as given.
Helitioo | 3 years ago | on: Incident with GitHub Packages and GitHub Pages
GitHub downtime is something I can just tell managment and prepare things to put it out of high critical path.
Like I would not pull images from GitHub on my k8s cluster.
Gitlab works absolutely but you know I don't want to do gitlab updates, do backup, do regular backup/restore test, deleting backups etc.
I prefer to create new things.

GitHub is still a no brainer for me.

Apparently it's also a communication thing.
Smugglers have motivation to say how good it is if you make it.
People hear and share weird information.

First of I would believe it's an educational problem and second it's a 'who cares' problem.
There are plenty of areas/ghettos of low income and low education around.
The blog also contains the following:
"The people with the most money and education—the class most responsible for shaping culture and customs—ensure that their children are raised in stable homes. But actively undermine the norm for everyone else"
How do they undermine the norm? They don't do this on purpose they are also just humans.

It's weird syntax. For plenty of cases you need to store return codes somehow to act on errors etc.
If possible I prefer something like golang, I even prefer writing scripts in PHP.
At least I have a proper debugger, ide, clear functions and can easily handle errors.
Just try to use curl and act on non 2* code in a simple manner... Try to split up the content from potential API errors

It's not adding value as at that time it would have been a gamble and not a obvious thing.
I also still don't understand Tesla share price. Sure they are more than a EV company but they still struggle with there Tesla roofs.
So why would Tesla be more worth than all car companies combined? Tesla doesn't just create a new market. They still need to replace others.
Helitioo | 4 years ago | on: Apple is removing a few of my old games b/c they have “not been updated […]”
I try to be lean at work and see things holistically.
This does mean that a piece of software is a living thing and needs to be maintained.
Apple is not the company which needs to preserve history.
So I'm not following nthe critisms.i even think often enough if we all would agree to create and share less but better,.we would not distract ourselves with our own content.
Like imagine no one would post anything on a Thursday. What a stressless day that would be.

Personal development means more than sitting in front of a tv.
I want to need to work less so I can be productive for myself.
Helitioo | 4 years ago | on: Ask HN: Am I going insane or is there genuinely no value in blockchain tech?
As soon as you use it for anything outside of it, you have the same issue.
How do I proof to someone else that I did what I should have done to get paid? By trust. Your smart contract can't verify that I did my part of the contract if it is outside of the Blockchain.
So what did you win?
Nothing.
Now you can work up a network of trust but you know this concept is much older than crypto and doesn't need a Blockchain.
And certain blockchains are looking for trust worthy entities to decentralize their own blockchains.
Now you even splitting up your trust in independent trust areas.
Do you know what trust system already exist? Which unites a lot of people? And is based on PoS?
Our current fiat and geopolitical system. Is it perfect? No. But we develop this system for a long time now

And hedge fonds can play there game anywhere.
The same thing with the argument from people that the normal suppressed people can get money through it. Dictators / evil actors can use the same system and still have the high ground.
Then I might be able to afford my dream house and enjoy my life in reality...
But you know it's not cheap and easy to use VR/ar stuff which hinders me to talk to people.
It's the amount of people I can handle realistically. It's the other tools the other people use.
It's time we need to find.
