Mostly due to age via stonewalling as a grade despite numerous publications and out-performance of peers.

Kazooie_Bird | 6 years ago | on: Ask HN : Does AWS has anything like this?

Are you asking if they have something like this for their managed services in various Region/Zones? Or if you can configure something like this for your personally hosted services/resources?

Kazooie_Bird | 6 years ago | on: What Type of Backup Are You Using?

I'm not seeing what is so special about this provider. In this pitch they note:

"With these 3rd party tools, you are not in control of your data, your data is still at risk to potential breaches, and you are paying high monthly storage fees."

and a few sentences later when describing their product:

"What you need is Syncrify, a private-cloud backup and synchronization solution that keeps your data 100% secure and private."

Why should a business use this tool when larger and more reputable companies do the same? I feel that this is 100% a play on buzzwords.

"The rest of their cushion was burned by my B.A. in English."

It's interesting how the first thought is to sell the house rather than providing their child with life experience that decisions (such as taking loans) have impacts.

Could an incentive like this be counterintuitive by promoting faster/sloppier work? Just because a developer commits frequently does not evaluate the quality of work, thus punishing developers working more complicated and thought out features.

This is a classic great listen with an interesting perspective. Having had listened multiple times to fill an otherwise silent void, his arguments feel geared towards those who have 100% without a doubt committed a crime, which is fine, but such advice during a routine pull over may be counterproductive.

Of course, using his example of not admitting you were going 'x' over the speed limit is obvious (not to most, though), it may be beneficial to have -some- transparency and personable traits that most often eases the situation.

At this point, you may be asking yourself how this could possibly ease a scenario as such... Well, here's the thing - if someone were pulled over (no matter what cause)and acted as many 'Sovereign Citizens' do, it can be expected without a doubt that escalation will occur due to insubordination. It's a very fine line, and honestly may be a gamble depending on the encounter premise, who the official is, and where you are located.

In short: Think before you speak :)

Kazooie_Bird | 7 years ago | on: Are architecture comps going to become the default

Both graphic design and building architecture require significant knowledge of UI/UX (yes - even building architecture).

Since UI/UX is making its round in the technology environment, I wouldn't be surprised if trends 'hop' disciplines despite being loosely related. This may be why more arch symposiums are appearing.

Kazooie_Bird | 7 years ago | on: Ask HN: Talented Young Founder in Need of Help

To be honest, his actions are very worrisome and should raise red flags.

While he may be talented, such prioritization can lead to massive failure, burn out, and/or even worse.. Maybe sit down with him to rationalize his thoughts and plan.

Providing a hand out or alternative to avoid the problem is simply encouraging the self-destructive behavior. Always aim for solving the root problem - bandages don't work in the long term.
