on: Lyft vs. Uber: A Tale of Two S-1’s
> Even with better economics and larger scale the larger question looms, which is how do these businesses turn profitable.
With self driving cars much further away than previously thought, this is the real danger for a company like Uber, who is bleeding money through their standard taxi-like services, quarter after quarter.

If Katie was a man, there would still be a large question as whether to praise one person, except as the leader of the effort.

At the same time, it's totally common for professors to ride on the efforts of research students under their direction, to the point of being ethically questionable.
You might as well credit the Linux operating system to only a single man, whose effort is certainly largely responsible, but for who also does not in any way represent the whole of effort.
It's the ship of Theseus all over again.

So...
Step one, raise funding to run a revolutionary company.
Step two, ditch original idea for being revolutionary once funding is obtained. Use interest bearing bonds and other investments.
Step three, profit.

It would be nice if the article writer realized that SELinux was not responsible for the specific error that was being displayed. Additionally, anyone that does linux should know that a permission error is either file system perms or selinux 9 times out of 10.

As long as you remember which ethnic group(s) owned and shipped the majority of slaves, I'm totally cool with reparations. Reparations should of course be made from the coffers of the descendants of those individuals, where possible. Generational wealth is a very real problem in some countries.

It would be nice to have independent reviews of vaccines from companies so that consumers could make informed decisions. Vaccines are generally good, but the accountability to keep them that way is not as strong as you'd think.
And yes, man made pollutants are still the disaster of this century. Just because we've removed lead from gasoline doesn't mean everything else is fixed.

Opera is a Chinese owned company now, right? How safe are you in trusting a Chinese VPN? Maybe slightly better than a VPN operated by Facebook...maybe?

Do you honestly think that slave owners simply gave up after slavery became illegal in the US? No, they simply found new and ingenuitive ways of exploiting people. Winning a battle is seldom ever winning the war.

"Mistakes" can also be just lack of sufficient evidence, or even evidence that is not collected properly. Mistakes do not always mean the party is innocent, just that we take them to be on a legal basis regardless of the truth.

The expectation I have is that these sky high prices will drive a boom not unlike the computer electronics boom of the 60's. When money of this amount is at stake, people are willing to do almost anything to get in on the action.
