This is especially true when you've got yourself a distributed monolith architecture.

However, the case for monolith architecture to make a favourable comeback based on factors such as performance and operational cost are all negated when you have multiple teams working on a single monolith. It quickly because a nightmare to manage all those code changes, and then you have manage to releases etc.

Most companies are doing microservices wrong, and it gets expensive fast.Thats not to say microservices are the inferior choice, because for most large orgs they are not.

Are we really going to see this debate pop up again, just because amazon did something?

Elon musk set a precedent - you can treat your employees (serfs) like shit and get away with it. Layoffs, perks being removed, the tone has generally shifted to "look we have free coffee" to "we own you, be glad to have a job, oh and you might not actually have a job after all".

This is a change of winds, instead of pandering to engineers companies are trying to debase us and remind us where we are in the totem pole.its not about revenues, its about power.

The guys a fucking dumbass. Don't waste your breath. We work surrounded by these idiots on a daily basis. Baton down the hatches and kill on sight. The guys a retard.

Man, nonsense is just what you've spouted. One name vs hundreds of thousands afflicted from burnout and inept social skills with a challenging social reality in which they struggle to rebuild them in. I would seriously hate to work with you based on how much of a dumbass you definitely are.

Oh yeah. I've met more than a couple of engineers who spent their teens and twenties coding like that was the meaning to life, all suffer from deep regret, burnout, resentment, depression.

They are better than average technically, but their social skills fail them. Which in a paid employment situation carries a lot of weight.

I feel sorry for these guys

What's the reasoning behind the design decision 'refusing to search for hashes', what grounds would they have to block such searches?

Rezwoodly | 3 years ago | on: Ask HN: Why isn't GWT or Vaadin more popular among Java developers?

Just because it makes you break out in a cold sweat doesn't necessarily map to others. I can work comfortably on both ends of the stack. I despise gwt and vaadin. Why would I want to pick an inferior technology because someone has an inability to program in a different syntax or spend a few weeks on the job learning about a new framework. Jesus.

Hi Pym. First of all my deepest condolences to all of you in the sequential family. Reading the news this morning and I was truly left stunned. Dave was taken from us way way way to early. He was a true ledgend and genius, and will be greatly missed. He seemed like such a wonderful man. I recently mentioned to a brother of mine that Dave was my hero, and he still is, and forever will be. I shed tears on more than one occasion today reading comments and stories pouring in from those who were lucky enough to have met him. Linked is a photo of my setup, sans a poly evolver which will soon join. I've also owned a tempest and mono evolver. These instruments mean everything to me, they are not just mere physical and material objects. They are harbingers of that which cannot be put in to words. I have been meaning to write an email to Dave and all of you on the team THANKING YOU for the awesome, amazing and inspiring instruments you put out on a consistent basis. They have enriched the lives of so many people, no least my own, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Going forward I can't help but feel anxious about the future of sequential. I hope you will all be given the authority to continue and innovate in the Sequential way, the way in which Daves spirit can be carried on. I have no doubt nor does anyone else in the community that you guys will kick ass. Thanks again for everything you have all done and will continue to do. Please do an AMA when you are feeling up to it. Love, J
