Why "alarm"?

Sounds like the proper way to finally get rid of the deadly virus

People die in mass everywhere in the world, the west is full of anti-vax

Imagine if they let the opium war continue back in the days

You can't improvise policies, look at the US, monkeypox cases are spreading at an; this time you can use the word; alarming rate

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: Hacker News is politically biased

It is, it always been, and it's getting worse, they will flag you for calling them out, here is the message they kept flagging on the pro american cloud act post https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32093891

--

This is a website using the .eu domain to spread an american propaganda (anti EU act, Pro American cloud act), led by Mozilla and an agency from UK using a 3rd party entity to be able to register said domain in EU, everything hosted in US servers btw

Shady-land: https://whois.eurid.eu/en/search/?domain=securityriskahead.e...

Be careful with what you read online people!

I recommend you check the original articles instead of this foreign propagandized website in order to forge your own opinion on the matter

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: I've started using Firefox and can never go back to Chrome

This sounds like an AD more than a recommendation

Everything listed can be achieved by using uBlock Origin

There is a reason why people abandoned Firefox, Mozilla refused to fix the performance issues, they refused to do something about the toolbar bloat, the browser became a nest for adwares/malwares, a security and privacy nightmare

and later they refused to abandon the Google deal

Google came with chrome and everyone switched, safe, efficient, reliable, and it stayed with the same UX since the beginning, a win for the users

Privacy? they don't share your data with anybody, there are no 3rd party addons or 3rd party links, unlike with Firefox for example (Pocket, Google, Duckduckgo, and various Ads in your home page)

Chrome or Chromium is the way to go if you care about:

- security

- privacy

- battery usage

Concerning their position of power, i don't buy it, Apple and WebKit have a greater impact imo and now that Microsoft is working on Chromium, it no longer is a viable argument

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: Ask HN: Why no company is able to deliver Apple M1/M2 performance per watt

Because they lack taste for quality and efficiency, they don't want to invest in R&D and they don't know how to retain talents

So you get companies that stagnate and higher ups are too focused on building a huge wealth and work hard to secure a golden parachute, maintaining their position and salary is higher priority

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upzKj-1HaKw

This summarize it very well, lack of taste and lack of vision, it's that simple and has huge impact on the products you release as a result

Pigeons too busy eating random shit in this particular parking lot, they don't know any better

This also shows why

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juA12hkDB5w

Pure lack of taste

It translates to:

"They are stupid for trying to do better, you should hate them too"

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: Jetbrains Fleet will be paid product with free plans

I'm fine with paying for quality software

I still hope it'll be open source, i refuse to depend on a tool i can't fix/tweak myself

I used to own a Sublime Text licence, ended up stopping using it because of an UX issue they refused to fix

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: EU legislation eIDAS article 45.2 may force inclusion of insecure QWAC root CAs

I am not French, but i read a lot, i like nice words and their etymology

Nourishing yourself from multiple cultures would help you a lot developing critical thinking

You are stuck defending mozilla no matter what, fanboyism gets you nowhere, it makes you blind

> I don’t really care if every EU citizen voted to make math illegal. While there is sanity elsewhere, and an internet exists, we can route around the madness.

You'll remember that when times will make you want to go back in time and hope for an alternative path

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: EU legislation eIDAS article 45.2 may force inclusion of insecure QWAC root CAs

voted by europeans

nobody voted for mozilla, they hold their position by selling their userbase to google

if that's what you want to trust, be it, trust them

we should have alternatives for the people who do not want to trust such entity doing shady things like political interference in foreign countries

> We live on a shared internet plane

another reason to not trust an entity that is selling its userbase to the most evil company on the internet and is also selling ads to people's browser ;)

your avidity made you loose all sight, you also lack critical thinking

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: EU legislation eIDAS article 45.2 may force inclusion of insecure QWAC root CAs

nobody prevents you to use mozilla certificates, you do what you want with your love and dependency on mozilla

i want americans to mind their own business instead of trying to lobby in both EU/Asia by impersonating identities like with this .eu domain, what a trustworthy behavior btw ;)

> Cool. I trust the engineers at Mozilla far more than the politicians in EU.

> You can’t mandate or legislate security from the parliament. It takes hard work, skill, education, experience, luck and visibility.

nobody said nor want that, you should read the original articles instead of this propagandized website

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: It’s time to make that indie C# game in Godot

C# needs a fat runtime, has a slow JIT (say hi to micro stutters in your gameplay and increased input latency), has a slow GC and worst of all is owned by Microsoft with a proprietary debugger that you can only use on visual studio (licence they changed overnight because Jetbrains released a C# IDE)

There are much better languages for game scripting (LUA for example)

VCs funding a company has nothing to do with innovation

Their goal is to make a profit

That's why we don't have fusion energy yet

And that's why Nuclear plants have stagnated for many decades already

Education is where innovation comes from, it's been like this for centuries (scientific, health, industry) and yet it's been neglected for decades, go look at the salaries of teachers, even in private schools

VC backed startups prevent innovation, look at today, we living a recession since 2008 because the market invested and moved their wealth in for profit pockets

If you invest in schools, you don't expect profit in return, you expect innovation in return

If you invest in a startup, you don't expect innovation in return, you expect profit in return

It is very simple

Galileo wasn't a VC and he wasn't backed by a VC

Even Tesla and SpaceX couldn't be where they are with only just VCs, they had to get massive help from the fed and the government to stay afloat, as well as a shit ton of internships from all around the world to sustain their R&D efforts

Shadonototra | 3 years ago | on: Teams is killing my Mac every day

Teams is the definition of what's wrong with microsoft

Nobody gives a shit anymore at that company

I keep say the same shit, but nothing changes, they have major culture and hiring problems, at this point i'm not sure "major" is enough to describe how horrible it is

They fire random people, and keep the problematic seeds, worse, they reward them!
