On the other hand, spending most of your time learning new syntax as opposed to actually solving creative problems makes one more like a glorified factory worker.

Me too. I always tend to wake up the exact same time (right down to the minute) every single morning, no matter how early or late I sleep. And I don’t set an alarm clock and use blackout curtain.

How can any HNer do this if it relies on classified metadata? And how does Palantir even get this classified metadata? their customers?

What I find irritating is this constant portrayal of them as this “secret, data mining, all-knowing” technology company that can predict anything. even though everyone saying they don’t know how Palantir works under the hood.
So yeah I definitely believe they are just a well-marketed, hip IBM.

But the notion of getting paid for your data, when its worth so little by itself is not appealing.

But the value of my data alone probably is worth less than a dollar to Google and Facebook. Given the choice of getting paid a dollar, or using it for free (in exchange for them using my data), I would choose the latter.
Only in aggregate is it worth a lot.

this is true. Take 10 million couples and maybe 1 in 10 million, this happens, and this is what we hear in the news.
We never hear about the wife that lives 10 more years after their 85+ year old husband dies.

Also, it's much easier to jump from 10 employees to 40, rather than from 1000 to 4000. So this list is very biased.

This image serves absolutely no useful purpose (What is it?). It would've been much useful to see a screenshot of the product where you could set feature flags to at least give us an idea on what your product does.

In addition to ETFs, why not go 1 step further? Offer hedge funds too. Amazon has a ton of data on which consumer brands are overperforming every quarter. Use that data to make investment decisions.
