This is why I cringe when I read articles like this.
To Quantcast she was just a cookie with some events that ultimately indicated she might like x and has shown interest in buying y.

I cringe reading the deluded opinions from people in this thread that clearly do not understand the impact on the app ecosystem, let alone how ad tech works.
I'd liken it to reading a post on mumsnet.com with 100+ middle aged women arguing about 5g.

I personally know several vegans that have had minor health problems because of their diet. You can eat a very healthy diet as a vegan, the problem is most people are not educated or motivated enough to get proper variation in their diet.
Its much easier for the general public to eat a varied diet by not restricting themselves to veganism.

Apple is wasting its energy. All they know is they seem to make some decent money from the crappy mobile gaming world, so they blindly think they'll be able to leverage this.

It might be a gesture at a company like Amazon where they employ many low paid workers, but at FB a high proportion of workers will see this as a 0.2-1% bonus.
The 'exceeds' performance review will have a much bigger impact on income.

It really doesn't solve any problems surrounding web analytics, user privacy or user experience. I think it shows the creators lack of industry experience in ecommerce, advertising and user tracking. It's like someone has sprinkled a flawed 20 year old method of tracking in glitter and saas'd it.
I think there is a very small subset of website owners that would be willing to pay for this. Then again he only needs to get a few people that aren't sales focused and are deluded enough to think this is the pinnacle of 'privacy'.
