It is like meditation because it is self reflection in the form of writing, which it is equivalent to maintaining a journal, which science tell us helps in improving our emotions, and well-being.

This! Our society as a whole push us toward performing aiming to produce more, to consume more again and over again. We don't do things because we like them of we want to have fun. We do these things to perform, gain wealth, visibility, status. Such approach steer us away from the innate human need of exploring, playing and mastering for the sake of it, which, surprise surprise, it is what make human happy.

I am surprised no one ever gamified English exercises tailoring the learning experience on the basis of mistakes done by each individual user. You can identify clearly all your weakness, Grammarly fix the, why not building up exercises to fix them at its root?

I have to suggest two books here:

- If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Happy?

- The Right Life: Human Individuality and Its Role in Our Development, Health and Happiness

Both books are focused on reshaping our effort and expliciting our real needs to make us happier.

The last 3 jobs I found, in two different countries in Europe, in the time span of 10y are due to LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is a great platform that gives the opportunity to look on how the market is evolving and what roles are more and more requested. It allows to find jobs and to be found.

Not everyone is in NYC, SanFra, or any other technological hub of the world, the opposite.

The majority of the people live in average cities if not villages where the opportunity to networking are rare if not absent.

Not to mention that if you want to relocate in other countries leveraging your skills, you cannot spend time joining events on the other side of the world unless you are rich.
