It has a lot of impact on me even if I try to ignore because I see so much sharing of misinformation and sources that are not even close to credible. It is especially troubling when it is from people I trust and respect and it takes a lot of self control to ignore and move along as I know arguing online about these things online hardly ever improves the situation.

Haven't read Lederman's book but sounds interesting. If he is referencing the Bible that makes me not like the name even more however names really are pretty trivial and aren't the real science so I guess it doesn't even matter. It is just my opinion doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things, both my opinion and what he names the Higgs-Boson.

I would say that we as CS people could learn from physics but when name things God Particle... Arguably to grab headlines I wonder about the Physics world... Then again I guess things like funding and getting people interested are important.

I have never understood the need in the Computer field or other fields for that matter to make unnecessary and incorrect analogies to physics. It is silly and I have to look past this as many things have worth where the author does this as some sort of way to make what they did seem more impressive rather than just advance something on its own merits.

Really we need to do a study that says when you exercise less and sit around your body fat increases specifically in your internal organs. I think this is common sense and how fat accumulation works. This has been proven in the past and should be common knowledge. Insulin dependence related to this makes a little sense for a study but it is pretty well accepted that being obese increases your risk of type 2 diabetes. The fact that if you create a calorie deficit you will lose weight/body fat and if you don't you will increase weight/body fat is simple yet there is a diet industry built on fads and a bunch of over educated people with too many degrees in non physical science fields pushing their ideals so they can make money.
