Senior adult in late 70s. I've been in the computer field since the mid 60s on a CDC 8090 tube type mainframe computer. Paper tape and punch cards was the way information was stored. At the time I was stationed aboard the USNS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as a CWO with FTG, later with NCID. After being at GITMO (beforre it became a Federal Prison) for 11.5 years I resigned and 10 weeks later I was in the Army at the same rank stationed at Ft Jackson attached to Military Intelliegence. Although, I remained in MI, but never left CONUS (Continential United States) beccause of that 11.5 years on GITMO. I did see some different areas in this country for that matter, and now some of those Forts are no longer, Fort, Devon, Fort Ord, and back to Fort Jackson in a 10 year stint in the Army. I retired with 21.5 years combined military service as a CWO2. After being t for 6.5 years I was recalled back to the Navy only to work directly under the Pentagon IG. I was to go onto military bases and look for security breeches, and then call in the IG team to do a thorough inspection of those offices that I'd found the lack thereof security being taken. I had fun going arround in civilian clothing and removing documents that were labeled as being Secret and above, and placing them into my clipboard. I was never asked for a security clearance once, a breech right there. Several bases got hit more than once. You would have thought that once hit they would learn the lesson, but no they didn't. So, they got retaught. I finally retired after doing that job for 6.5 years bringing my total time (combined) in service to 28 years. Education BA in Theology 1963 Master's in Industrial Computers, Robotics, and Electronics Engineering 1996. Don't bother trying to figure that one out. I ask questions when probed about a computer problem, then after getting a few answers I'll walk the users through fixing his computer problem him/her self. They think I'm a genuis, when all I did was to ask leading questions. If you answer a question wrongly, you will never be trusted, but if you ask a question and they come up with the wrong answer, they'll ask you more questions. The how to teach children how to learn. Show them how to tie a shoelace, then have then do it in front of you, if done right have them teach it to another person. I used that method teaching Boy Scouts, it works.
