> 3) Aging GUIs. Most forums have outdated GUIs which improperly scale to modern displays. They're either too compact (for an 1024*768 era), or they made a failed attempt at modernization and it looks terrible.

This is kind of paradox to me. Yes, changing UI can help attracting new users. However in my experience, changing UI will definitely upset frequent users (for eg reddit) and some of the forums that I frequently visited have this problem so much so some of them are abandoned because of this reason.

Yes, social media. I was active in some "niche" forums (related to music scene, guitars and etc) back in the late 2000s but then Facebook started to become a thing and then Reddit, and then Twitter, Discord etc and then the rest is history.

Very interesting concept. However in the video about sociocracy, the main concept about decision making is that every decision needs a total consensus and no objection from all participants right?

ahmadmijot | 3 years ago | on: Ask HN: What tools are you a 10/10 on?

Ninite. Make it easy to install softwares on Windows.

Fusion 360 for CAD modelling. I used Autocad before but nowadays I don't need that level of complexity.

Notepad++. Lightweight and simple text editor.

I misread it as 8byte but it really is 8bit! Now that I'm in the stage of learning low level computer, I really like this kind of project.

ahmadmijot | 3 years ago | on: Ask HN: How to get a leadership position in a startup

I've been parachuted to become a founder of a startup, holding a C suite title.

From my experiences, in the beginning yes you need to be in a certain circle, know the founders or just become one (founder or VP position). This is a route for someone (like me) who didn't have prior experience in top managerial level in a startup/company.

In my day to day operation, converting pdf to docx is not a trivial task.

>The hope is to have it operating by the end of the decade.

Wow the building time even for this new style, modular nuclear plant is still takes that long time?

Just curious, why an American company builds a nuclear plant in a foreign country with US government 'subsidising' them, do not build it in US soils?

I don't use LateX explicitly (my colleagues and supervisors didn't know LaTeX and exclusively use MS Word) but I like how I can write equation in MS Word using LateX notations.
