I hear a lot of people complaining about Snap. While I am not a Ubuntu user for 15+ years, I am curious why Canonical is pushing Snaps so much. There must be positive feedback from their target market. Maybe the traditional Linux desktop user does not fit anymore into Canonical’s persona

Nowadays children find themselves in a software-defined life. Boredom is a good option of gettin outside of this environment.

For me it looks like IBM and VMWare are reinventing themselves trough these aquisitions. If you work with enterprise customers, you can see how much they hate these kind of vendors, and how eager they are to understand open-source solutions, and to adopt the fast pace of internet companies. IBM and VMWare understood this too, and now they are adapting to this new landscape. I am confident that when IBM will say to my customers: hey, we can deploy and support Kubernetes for you (with the same agilty as your existing small vendors) they will go for it, just to get rid of the bureaucratic burden generated by their purchasing departments, and us, the small vendors will have to reinvent as well, and this is how innovation happens.

> Isn't it amazing (and scary) how brainwashed people are about the "value" of diamonds, even though they're not actually worth that much?

It seems to me that the same strategy is curently used in the crypto ecosystem.

Had a startup in this area, with swarm under the hood, and realised last year (when RackSpace closed Carina) that 1. swarm is loosing momentum due to the ammount of new features, stability and native cloud integration that k8s brought; 2. containers are beeig adopted at a huge speed, and big cloud providers like aws and gce have lots of users and trust, so the effort of offer CaaS is not that big, with great chances of success; 3. The hosting market is tough due to comprtition. DigitalOcean was in this market way before they were caled DO.; 4. When you want to make money from OSS like Docker does, companies like RedHat and IBM allready have years ahead of competition due to their established sales channels (in 1-2y from now we will see tectonic in all rhel powered companies, and docker announcing that it’s not supporting UCP any more)

Hi everyone. Founder here. Thanks for the feedback, and I admit, there are a lot of things that we can improve. We have focused more on the technology, and soon are going to update most of the documentation and FAQ.
