A) We can't put a brain-equivalent computer in the car, and can't program it to be as good as a brain at driving

B) We have higher standards for autonomous cars. The people saying it can never happen are saying it will never be perfect in all conditions, not that it will never be better than humans.

Serverless is really the wrong term to use here. That refers to a specific way of handling cloud infrastructure (the point being that there are still servers, you just don't care)

Excel is used for client-side only programs. There are no servers at all. All programs originally were client-side only originally because networks didn't exist.

I could purchase a semi truck today and drive it despite the fact i'm not licensed. I don't see how it's any different - the thing stopping people from driving vehicles that they don't have the license for is that it is illegal and you can be punished.

Repossession doesn't come into the equation - the same way I can buy a truck, they can buy/own a car that they aren't allowed to drive. It makes sense that they would sell it and buy one they are licensed to drive, but nobody's making them if they want to sit in it and make car noises while not moving.

It could be argued that it is similar to predatory pricing, where you accept a loss on your offering to drive competitors away before increasing the price.

Amazon video as its own service would not be able to survive so it is unfair on services that just try to do video.

In an electric car the battery is essentially the only part that can catch fire. If there's flames, the battery is already burning and you can't really put it out.

The only other thing would be an electric component overheating or shorting, but that would cause a small explosion rather than a continuous fire.

The percentage is very misleading because you can have a negative net worth. The average could be $1, in which case you get a 500% increase by giving everyone $5.

That doesn't discount the article entirely, but I wish people would stop using misleading statistics for completely valid points. It really ruins your argument.

The people with the power to change the treaty don't materially care about the restoration and the people in change of the restoration don't have the power to change the treaty.

Without some huge effort to range awareness in favour of changing the Notre Dame for the better, the treaty will remain and those in charge of the repairs will have no say in how they go ahead.

The term is pseudonymous - the list of all transactions is available for anyone to look at but in theory you can't link bitcoin addresses to people.

However, in practice, most people buy bitcoins via a method that requires ID, which links their ID to one of their addresses. Multiple addresses can then be linked together by cluster analysis based on usage patterns

anextomp | 7 years ago | on: French ISPs Ordered to Block Sci-Hub and LibGen

Yes, both would work. Other countries have started with DNS blocks and eventually moved to IP blocks, which would prevent Google DNS from bypassing the block. For now though, changing your DNS will be sufficient.

I'm not aware of any block that is effective against TOR. Even if that were possible, I bet sci-hub has a .onion mirror, which is by definition not blockable.
