on: Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
That's really fun. I like the quick snippet, but would like a 2nd tier of interesting facts about the thing instead of just the quick ironic bits (after looking at 'Inventors Killed by Their Inventions').
Would like to be able to skip items/stories without having to x or heart. Feels like a left or right swipe on the main cards should go to other topics. It doesnt feel right 'voting' on them without having read them.

on: Stripe Data vs. Open‐Source Alternatives: A MRR Example
Would equals be simple enough for a staff member with limited accounting and tech background who has been putting simple revenue, churn, product trend reports together by hand using our stripe data? If so, how can we reach out to schedule a meeting to discuss?

Exact same problems and I went the iPad mini route. Honestly, it was worth it. I bought an older one to save cash and it works great.

Just waiting for alien abduction and Elvis being alive and well articles to come out and we've got a new version of the old National Enquirer.

Was confused by this, as well. It appears they skilled the intermittent part entirely.

Agreed. History is rhyming a lot, lately. Feels like we're reliving events from about 100ish years ago.

on: First-in-human implantation of bionic device to halt Crohn's disease (2023)
No real difference for me. It mostly comes down to quantity, speed and how much it’s broken down by chewing, cooking or blending.

on: First-in-human implantation of bionic device to halt Crohn's disease (2023)
Have Chron's with stricturing and anything more than a quarter cup of corn, popcorn, pineapple or leafy greens would bring me to my knees in about 5-8 hours. Nuts are a little hit or miss, I need to chew them up really well and not eat them on an empty stomach and I'm good for a few handfuls.
I tell people that if it looks the same coming out as it goes in, I can't have that banging around my guts.
Any fast or junk foods are totally fine since they're mostly low fiber, but high fiber foods are mostly okay, too.
Due to my strictures and the nightmare stories I've read from people online, I specifically eat foods that are mushy or smoothies and soups. Basically, I'm pre-digesting the foods before they're eaten so they're easier to pass through a narrowing intestional wall and it has worked well for years now. Only time I've had issues are when I eat too quickly, too much at once or have one of my problem foods.
I'm also on a biologic, which made all the difference after being untreated for about 6 months, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

on: The Reddits
I've been seeing talk on a few servers I moved to about what their "next move" will be when Discord pulls more BS. So they're actively thinking and talking about how to keep the community going longer term. I hope they circle back to forums. They're so much better in virtually every way and can be setup to have livechat, reddit-style posts, you name it.

That and some moved to forums. I didn't get a complete 1 for 1 of all the subreddits I used to frequent, but most of the main ones I used have moved to one of those solutions.

Very similar to what I started working on last year. It’s been working extremely well and one of the best things I’ve done for myself. I talk about it here:

on: My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD
This. The reason I stopped using FSD was due to traveling at speed on the biggest freeway running through Southern California when it randomly slammed on the breaks for no reason, until I quickly disengaged it. I’m not talking a gentle slow down. It went from 75 to 35 and all passengers getting thrown against their seatbelts and the car behind having to slam on their breaks hard to avoid rear ending me. First time, I thought it was a fluke. 2nd time, along the same route but a completely different place, the car behind had to swerve into the emergency lane to avoid running into me. I vowed never to use it again and join any class action lawsuit against the company regarding this. It’s dangerous AF on its best day.
Driver assist, however, is actually great and perfect for stop and go traffic. But damn that FSD is a literal killer.

Multiple annual hurricanes with increasing intensity that are harder to get insured against due to said factors or few hundred dollar a year insurance for a “big one” earthquake coming soon™? Easy choice in my book.

Even better: I sent back an unopened Librem5 because they said I’d get a refund. 10 months later and no refund after monthly emails, including cc’ing the executive team and their legal counsel. I’ll be filing FTC and state AG complaints when I get the time. Absolutely do not ever buy from them, they’re scam artists.
