on: Adaptive scaling for real time video calling and media streaming
The real challenge with dynamically scaling a media delivery platform is managing high concurrency when conferences or stream viewership peaks and eventually subsides.
Let us consider, for example, the number of concurrent users ranging between 100-1,000 across 10-100 conferences. It would be a good idea to auto-scale the number of active media server instances based on usage to save a significant amount of cost and resources.
Jitsi’s architecture allows for dynamic scaling in real-time. In addition to being powerful and optimized, JVBs are built to scale, which make them more dynamic for media transport.

Most of the people in this thread are not using FB social media that is really interesting. Like people have already started making distance with social media and use internet for something productive.

Not for nothing but in many places — including Israel and Palestine — WhatsApp is used as the de facto phone and text messaging platform. Ostensibly, a utility is down right now for millions of people. The billionth reason to break down and regulate Facebook. - Abraham Gutman

Ya, we still have other options to connect. But one thing I experienced sometime back. These days we don't store contact number as we are connected on Social Media. I had hard time connecting with my old friends. I had to call a lot of other friends to connect with him.

on: 9-5 by day, startup by night. How do you cope?
If you can take Some Risk:
Take admission in college, quit the job and work on your startup.
If not:
The only key word is "Determination","Where there's a will, there's a way"
Still I have some tips for you:
1) Increase your physical activities(Imp), go to job and in night work on startup.
2) "Time is money", Move near to your work place.. etc
3) Live with your co-founders (or Girlfriend or Love ones)
4) Keep some spare time to meet your loved one, it keeps you motivated.
5) Focus on correct things, 80-20 Rule.
20% Task get your 80% work done.
6) Work with a velocity that you can control. One should know his/her limits.
7) There are points in time where things don't seem to be going well, in such times its only you who can help yourself. Be determined
:) Cheers & Best of Luck !!!Eat good Food :)

on: Ask HN: I can't do this anymore, I need help
I guess it’s not about Business class or working class. Sometime people get overwhelmed by an idea, and this idea has its inception from what other people are doing. This makes you look what you are doing is not good. Business, Job, Status, Money etc. it’s all work and just a small part of life (Life has many more aspect). If something does not work for you, then let it go. Start new, which bring backs balance to your life. By starting new I mean not only work, if your work does not bring money then switch (there is no shame); if your current job gives you a lot money but now time to spend with your loved you are still doing a stupid thing; if your individualist character don't let you pursue grouping (family/relation), bring a change in you (how much you devote to life that relation)... It’s all about balance. When you are standing at such a point in life, people can just give you advice; it’s just YOU who can help YOURSELF. No work is big or small, real status is being a good person…..etc.…
So my friend, let it go, start with something which will --> work for you <-- and which will get you what ever really matter for you (your Girlfriend, time, family). It's your time which is getting consumed and time is the most precious thing.
It’s my recent realization after I feel in love (with my family, a girl, and me :D )!!!
Balance is the keyword!!I guess :)

on: Facebook Refused No-Poaching Agreement With Google
No-Poaching Agreement, makes me think of how much poor the company laws are. Every law is aligned to keep investors money safe, I mean to say audits and audits(There is a need of audit for Employee Satisfaction). Also, there should be some laws which can make employees feel like human and not just operating cost on the balance sheet(Employee Satisfaction / Protections Laws). Laws which can keep balance between Profit a company make(Greed of Investors and Top level Executives) and Employees who help the company earn the profit(Puts his life time into that).
