on: Web Framework Benchmarks Round 4
I got on the Node thing for awhile too, but went back to Java/JBoss/Tomcat/Spring. If you are skilled with the Java stack it is hard to beat for performance and breadth. If you are not, well, I admit the learning curve is steep.

on: Could a ban on plastic bags be fatal?
What about the negative effects of washing those bags?
1. Extra drinking water usage in a state with known water supply issues.
2. More detergent residue in the ground and oceans.
3. Electricity usage to run the washer.
I'd suggest these come close to outweighing the plastic bag negatives.

on: Are Rails and Django communities re-inventing the wheel?
The latest Java/Spring/JEE platforms are much more lightweight than they were 5 years ago. Look at annotated JAX-RS and you'll be amazed. You defectors should really give it a objective try. Nowadays us Java guys can focus on building our applications because our frameworks and APIs are so mature.

It will be wonderful until the first time a plunger smashes a car with a family to smithereens because the railgun timing was slightly off due to a voltage irregularity.

This is a bogus excuse. There must be some other reason they are shutting down as this appears to be a rectifiable problem.

on: Use What Works: Prefixing Database Tables With 'tbl'
Wow. How much precious time have you wasted having to type tbl as a prefix every time you reference a table in your code or during maintenance? Also, how about the mental energy needed to filter out the tbl prefix whenever looking at a list of tables? And now you've wasted a minute of my life having to comment on this issue. :)

on: Advice for Non-Technical Founders: Stop Learning To Code
Great advice! As a tech founder, I can build anything but I can't market for crap. Not only can't I do it, but I hate doing it. Don't get in my way and I won't get in yours, my non-tech partner. We'll go to some great places!

on: 60% of the apps in the App Store have never been downloaded
Something is not kosher with these numbers. Anyone going through the effort of publishing an app to the App Store will at least download it themselves and have at least a few friends or family members do the same.
