I take Remicade for UC on a monthly cadence. From $500 to now $1300/m for 2 in TX, and an added bonus of a 10% lab coPay + All kinds of fees.

I am Blessed running a good startup but I've always felt this deeply.... "But I can't imagine what people have to sacrifice to keep any kind of coverage (with high deductible and horrible coinsurance and prescription drug coverage) for their families if they don't have a decent income :("

azal | 13 years ago | on: Ask HN: What have you done after a failed startup?

It depends. If you have enough savings, you can take the much needed time-off and clear your mind and then work on another problem to solve. If money is the issue then get a consulting or freelancing gig (plenty of info on HN how to get 1). Write a guest blog post on why your Startup failed. Also there are plenty of people looking for Co-founders. The worst mistake is to not start something new because you think you may fail again.

When I figured the actual link, I tried reposting it, some one had already posted it.

I wanted to delete my post, HN was timing out.

Great App, just tried it on my HTC Evo.

1 thing I noticed is that if its a new post, there is text 'discuss' or 'x comments' following the submitter, which when clicked taked u to the actual site posted and not the comments.

*to get to comments, depress the post for 2 seconds

azal | 14 years ago | on: Show HN: BBB for Linkedin profiles.

There is definitely a need for something like this in the recruiting market, as there are many fake profiles on linkedin (I ran a recruiting thing for a while). But most of the companies already run their own education & employment history checks, and at $40 its a tough sell to Job seekers, at the start, unless I really am guaranteed a job with the badge :). A suggestion would be, to make it free for Job Seekers, interviewing them and making sure they are who they say they are and etc, and then you can try talking with companies to use this as a service and charge a referral fee.

Having personal talked with Noah, it makes sense on what he did or is asking others to do. I myself have ran and am running sites which bring in revenue. not on the $1MM scale but still some $.

+ replicating what AppSumo does is not that hard, you need a decent site with some deals on the page. The Deals you get by emailing entrepreneurs or devs of any product out there. There are many struggling devs and companies which would love to cut you a deal as far as they are getting sales and customers.

azal | 14 years ago | on: Ask HN: What do people do with the code from failed startups?

OpenSource it or sell it on Flippa. I sold a previous failed startup code on Craigslist once, it had a website and all. Usually if its just code ppl are hesitant to buy it, put it up with a nice looking site and some pics of what it does and etc, and you should be able to find a buyer. A Friend of mine sold his online business he wasn't making any money in, on BizBen.

azal | 14 years ago | on: Ask HN: What is the management structure like at Startups?

It all just Depends, there is no 1 strict rule. How old is the Start-up and how much it has raised. All these and more vectors come in place.

In a Bootstrapped or recently Seed Funded startup, The Founders pretty much do everything. In Later stage startups, the management structure starts to take shape as more people are brought on-board.
