Interesting points! In Ancient Aliens documentary, they claim these "intelligent creators" are the so-called ETs (aliens). But regardless of whether that's true or not, one could ask "ok, who created those ETs?" and again, you'd go one level back and should try to find some older intelligent beings who designed our creators, etc., etc.

But this has to stop at some point, because the universe - to the best of my knowledge - is only (!) 13.8 billion years old, thus, some intelligent beings must have appeared some where in the universe long time ago. The question is: "how did THAT happen?" It could be that mere _chance_ resulted in a very early development of intelligent life on a planet in a galaxy far far away. The same process could have helped shape life on the earth too.

Or, maybe there really was an intelligent _being_ in charge of things that designed the whole universe such that exactly a few billion years after the Big Bang, in a specific galaxy and on a specific planet, some certain type of life would appear which would later create other forms of life, and maybe we are created by those people, thus, indirectly, created by that "intelligent being". You may call that "intelligent being" God.

I refer you to read Apple's Software License Agreements carefully. They're here: https://www.apple.com/legal/sla/

Specifically it states: " The software (including Boot ROM code, embedded software and third party software), documentation, interfaces, content, fonts and any data that came with your iOS Device (“Original iOS Software”), as may be updated or replaced by feature enhancements, software updates or system restore software provided by Apple (“iOS Software Updates”), whether in read only memory, on any other media or in any other form (the Original iOS Software and iOS Software Updates are collectively referred to as the “iOS Software”) are licensed, not sold, to you by Apple Inc. (“Apple”) for use only under the terms of this License. Apple and its licensors retain ownership of the iOS Software itself and reserve all rights not expressly granted to you."

If a person has agreed to these terms, I don't see how they can complain about Apple's policies in the future. The same software that isn't owned by the person, but is Apple's, now refuses to run Steam Link. The person who agreed to such terms had it coming, you can't blame Apple for that.

Given that Apple - as a private company - is the owner of iOS, no one can blame them for what they wish to include/exclude from their ecosystem. A mistake many people make these days is they think just because some services are so prevalent and worldwide, they ought to be under control of the law and government. The same thing happens when people complain about Google/Amazon/Facebook for their policies. They're private companies! If you don't like them, fine, quit using their services, simple as that.

The day we give a person the right to sue a private company over their policies, we will essentially kill the free market.

Loneliness is: - When you try so hard to make friends and still they ignore you.

- When you know you have some really good qualities and characteristics, but are not appreciated for them.

- When you realize you're not important to other people; whether you go to school/work/university tomorrow or not doesn't affect others and they won't notice.

- When you see all those couples around you and in the street, and think about "what's wrong with me?" and "why don't I have something like that?"

- When you realize you've put in too much effort and enthusiasm to help people and make contact with them, but haven't received much in return; as if you were just a tool for them.

- When you just want to spend your time with a person and realize they don't like spending their time with you.

- When you are too alone that you don't even know where to begin in order to stop being lonely.

This is what fking loneliness feels like.

First of all, thanks for clearing things up about Lisp! I have a question which I think is the concern of many people in Data Science sector as well: I love the idea of Lisp and have tried it before. I also found the idea of macros super intelligent. But when it comes to data science, I face a lot of problems with Lisp. Currently I do my job with Python (mostly) which benefits from a plethora of libraries. But Lisp falls short in this area. The number of available libraries and active communities is not comparable to that of R/Python/Java... And the language itself is fragmented: There are just too many "Lisp"s out there: CL, Scheme, Racket, ... I even tried Hy once, but that's not quite the experience I want.

Could any one suggest how one might do data science and analytics on Lisp?

P.S.: Hy Lang: https://github.com/hylang/hy

It's unfortunate how Instagram, as a very popular social network, has a very slow speed of improvement. Too many features missing, UI still has issues (not to mention the lack of a dark theme), the UX is just "weird" and the setting menu reminds me of Winphone settings: too cluttered, many useless buttons, and no icons!

On top of that, many times images won't just load. And Videos play automatically, consuming much internet traffic.

bhnmmhmd | 8 years ago | on: Now Is the Perfect Time for an RSS Renaissance

Excuse me, but I need to put it out there: how exactly is RSS useful if the sources themselves (websites) are more and more biased? I believe nowadays, people are interested in "content", not in "source". As long as the content is valid and trustworthy, I don't care if it's on social media or an RSS feed.

As a matter of fact, my problem with RSS is that I can't be sure the websites I'm receiving their notifs are going to keep up the good work and are not "deviated" or "biased" after a while. RSS is solid, but it's also rigid, meaning that it relies on websites to deliver you content. Other alternatives (such as news aggregators) do the reverse: they bring you content based on your own interests and regardless of where that news was published in. I think this is way better than "blindly" trusting our favorite websites to tell us the truth.

This. I hope some day our societies are mature enough to understand most of the labelings are just useless, restricting ways of limiting our perception of the world and the realities.

Personally, I've never liked categorizing people/things in definite groups. Even as for personality types, I find the MBTI test (16 personalities) too narrow and primitive. Yet, I find MBTI at least useful enough to give me a general idea as to what type of a person I'm dealing with.

On the other hand, when it comes to the labelings and categorizations that you mentioned, I agree with you; I don't even find them useful to get a general idea about people.
