I got a HP 1102w for this about 6 or 7 years ago and it's never failed. By getting laser, you can avoid the clogged print heads issues and other issues inkjets have with infrequent use.

Thanks for the write-up, I’ve been curious about that machine amid my Apple frustrations. However, you mention a lack of quad-core i7 cpus in the MBP but that’s not true. My 2013 is a quad core and they have been quad core in the 15” ever since.

I think it's even more likely due to the fact that 4 out of 5 laptops they sell are labeled "MacBook Pro" - including the MacBook Air replacement.
If Chevy named the majority of their cars Malibu (1/2 ton truck), Malibu (3/4 ton truck), Malibu (2 door sports car), Malibu (4 door electric sedan), Malibu (4 door full-size sedan) then they would have the largest amount of Malibu's sold ever too.
