Thanks for the feedback! We're working on a more elegant solution to handle the alternate airports, balanced field length, etc. We're erring on the safe side right now, but there are always these edge cases.

As far as the prices, we're working on adding more aircraft everyday (lower repositioning costs, greater aircraft choices, etc). I'd love to ping you for some further discussion, especially around alternates.

With a formal education in biology, I've always thought the industry was much like the computer industry a few decades ago. Jobs & Gates arguably took something that was limited to corporations and Universities, and brought it to the masses. It's a matter of time before there's a startup that revolutionizes something from their garage. Just think where we were before PCR was around, imagine what's next? With open source tools, OpenWetWare, etc, it's lowering the barriers to entry. Who says it's restricted to pharma and human clinical trials? There's plenty of room for innovation in many other areas (GMOs, synthetic bio, methods, tools).

Plus, Bill Gates (loosely) agrees. [0]

That's astonishing. I'd be interested in seeing some more statistics on the amount of lobbying vs market size compared to other industries (e.g. Transportation, Hospitality, Pharma).

For short flights, a heavy jet wouldn't be cheaper. But when you start looking into singles, twin engines or turboprops the prices for a short flight can become very competitive and affordable... especially when time is factored in.
