>> Per-Request Pricing is also available. Estimate your bill >> REQUESTS PER MINUTE: 2 >> An average of 2 req/min is $20.00 per-month.

That I see as one "big" innovation over newrelic. Why do you have to pay when servers are idle?

chopete | 10 years ago | on: Why Airbnb is dead to me

My ongoing first time experience forced me to create this basic question set. The realization is airbnb is no different from craigslist. There are no minimum standards/rules. There are awesome deals out there. Only people with a good question set end up choosing a better deal and the rest get stuck with bad deals.

Room 1. Room size (width x length in ft) 2. What lighting do you have?. Or you have only one table lamp? 3. Is there a table? 4. Do you provide a towel? 5. Send me a picture of bed size and also the measurements. (width x length in ft) Please don't just say queen or king. I need the width and length. I have seen hosts mention the sizes incorrectly. 6. Do your personal belongins stay in the room?. Any don't touch belongings? 7. Does the room have a knob(inside) for privacy? 8. Is there a fan? 9. Total house built up area in square footage? (excluding garage)

Sharing 1. How many airbnb guests stay there? 2. How many guests I share the rest room with? 3. Is there space in the fridge for me?. How much (approx)? 4. What is the typical temperature maintained in the house?. Are there guests with a requirement to keep the room warm despite me sweating?

Cleaning 1. What is the cleaning schedule for house?. 1. What is the cleaning schedule for rest rooms?. 2. Who do we call if the shared rest room is soiled?.

Location 1. Are there any loud sounds/noises from surroundings/roads at night?

There were 2 issues, one copying the script onto every machine and the second one related to login credentials. Some scripts needed an authentication file and others need it on prompt. Unfortunately keys(both S3 and dropbox) are not handy all the times.

Just awesome. I tried custom shell scripts to upload to dropbox and other cloud storages but it never felt right.

The other magic is, on Mac you can see the upload status in the browser window if you keep curl.io open.

Companies (with middle management) work like a family... all things optimized to welcome a new kid or take care of a crying child. As a senior (outside of executives) you are expected to shoulder the responsibility. This setup may look odd in light of this article. The only reason it works and is working fine is the setup feels natural and many have accepted it. Employees who couldn't express their concerns in a smart way were seen as misfits. At the same time employees, worth even a tiny bit, who cried smart every 6 months were take care of.

There are limits on how many times you get taken care of for crying as the articled mentioned and finding another family is a perfect thing to do when you reach the limit. That new company is all ready to repeat the cycle for you.

Unfortunately, in many companies the middle management is a pack of caring elders and the people who didn't exercise smart crying. Another reason why it(accept 3% annual raise, don't expect more) became a norm. -- from a middle manager

Not sure if it is a quality one for posters but for potential candidates it provides one of the best tools.

- Upfront salary/equity range. No need to spend a month and later hear 'sorry your salary expectation is not in our pay band'

- No middlemen. You know the company behind the job upfront.

- A lot of information about the company upfront. I am not sure there are any job sites that provide this much of information.

- Simple and useful filtering.

To me it has all the best things a potential candidates looks for in a job posting.

I only wish these guys don't go around screw it up with insane fees. Off all the things in agel.co they want to go after jobs?.
