on: Ask HN: Does a Canadian online retailer have to pay US taxes on US sales?
If there is a warehouse in the states do you have to pay income taxes of just collect sales taxes? I know I need to find a good accountant...thanks for the recommendation.

on: Why I am moving to Cleveland
I disagree about RTA comment. I take the 55 almost everyday and it is super clean. The city used to be dirty, but has been rejuvenated from public square to the east bank. It's really bike friendly as far as transportation goes as well.

Whenever there is a free market, market participants do what they can to restrict the market. This is the nature of the free market.

They call the feature smart interactivity. Set to on. Talk about a dark pattern.

FYI: when I pull up the site on my phone all the text moves to the right and resizes, but the picture of the laptop doesn't change size or position.

I find it striking the amount of testimonials from one time commenters. It looks like one of the accounts was even created to post a testimonial.

on: Republican net neutrality bill would gut FCC’s authority over broadband
I would like to see net neutrality force uploads and downloads on service provided to consumers be equal. 50megabit service, allows 50megabit upload.

on: Decentralize All the Things
The elephant in the room that nobody seems to see is that most ISP upload speeds are a quarter at best of the download. I have a 50megabit service with 5megabit upload. When we talk about internet freedom/net neutrality, its always talk regarding big companies being clocked, should Netflix be-able to use 30% of the nations internet resources without paying more...but wait consumers are paying for the connections.. Its a pricing debate. This occurrence of decentralization is the result of the restriction of possibility,we are stuck in the most part with the options that the isp's allow. Which are structured to get more money out of servers of the internet by restricting the availability of high or even equal uploads. even with my own home server I can't host a website that allows for any reasonable dynamic exchange.

on: Cell Phones Can Hear Depression in People’s Voices
I totally get what your saying about it being link baitish. However,if the manic compression in my voice could be caught by my phone before I make an urgent call, it would be most advantageous, as opposed to a microphone on my computer.

on: Cell Phones Can Hear Depression in People’s Voices
I totally need this...having suffered from several manic episodes that usually ramp up over a period of a month or two before I become straight up psychotic, completely lost. It would change my life to be able to check in with my psychiatrist after several alerts, rather than when I get to the point that I need to be admitted. its also not the type of message that friends and family like to give.
