I use a Todo app every day, starting in the morning. Almost all of my tasks are recurring, well defined, and relatively short. E.g. "triage email inbox every day", "vacuum house every week on Saturday", "upper body workout every second day", "renew passport every 10 years".

For me this works well, because: * I don't forget to get things done * I don't have to think about what I need to do, the app shows me a daily list * I get a small feeling of accomplishment for every task I complete (gamificaion), and for finishing all my tasks (daily task inbox zero).

It works for me.

Sounds like Audible believes the benefits outweigh the downsides of abusing their customers

I don't know about the rest of the US, but here in West LA there's a large persian community so it is easy to find "white fish"for Nowruz. I don't know what kind of fish it really is, but I've heard it comes from the great lakes.

Organized labor can negotiate with corporations and politicians to defend the interests of their members.

The way things are now in the US wasn't inevitable.

For many Asians being FOB was an advantage. They had not been subjected to centuries of discrimination. I believe that immigrants coming from Africa do better in the US, on average, because they usually come from the educated elite of their home country.

The opposite occurs for some Asians minorites who were poor and uneducated in their home countries, they don't do anywhere near as well as the Asians who come from a privileged background.

Does that answer your question?

complexworld | 5 years ago | on: Threat modelling case study: bicycles

My ebike was stolen. It had a good lock, and was on street with significant passersby. It seemed like there was nothing I could do to prevent that from happening again.

My solution was to buy a foldable bike that was half the price, and half the weight of my ebike.

I didn't even buy a bike lock because I never leave the foldable bike parked on the street. Wherever I go I bring it inside.

I have followed a similar path. My problem is that I usually wake up at 3am after only 4-5 hours of sleep, and can't get back to sleep. After 2 nights of that I'll feel tired throughout the day.

I discovered that one good puff of marijuana when I wake up too early, helps me to drift off to sleep again. After that I wake up feeling great the next day!

My Oura ring tells me that the marijuana significantly lowers my resting HR, and increases my HRV (Heart Rate Variability). From what I understand both of those effects are beneficial.

A major difference is that there is a tool for automatically converting from Java to Kotlin. I don't think that exists for Objc to Swift.
