Better than your "ill-informed delusional ramblings".

I'd advise you talk about things that you understand, else the comment quality of this place is only going continue slipping. Not sure why this political piece is ranking so high here in the first place. Or has the site degenerated so much so quickly? (haven't checked HN for ages..)

You can always just do this as well.

State.stores.wood = 99999; State.stores["alien alloy"] = 99999; State.stores["laser rifle"] = 1

World.water = 60; Path.outfit["energy cell"] = 80; Path.outfit["cured meat"] = 40; Path.outfit["grenade"] = 10

No guarantee's there, but I can say that it works both ways. Xenophobia and these sorts of biases exist and are normal parts of being a human being.

I would say, it's better to accept that these biases exist, so that you can take them into account when reasoning - rather than trying to delude yourself into thinking you are in entire control of all that is going on in your mind (and body).

You might get deported like that Saudi guy for being too handsome.

You can also be targeted by other men (of a different race for example) that feel threatened by you - or women too, the bitter type, in all seriousness.

To make it easier for your probable world view: being a very good looking tall black man for example, won't necessarily have everyone open up to you with smiles on their faces (especially if you don't necessarily want to assimilate into their 'culture'/social structure).

Being a very good looking asian (yes they exist, haha) guy myself - I would say I have experienced many instances in my life where white men have attempted to sabotage me.

People like things that make them feel/seem more powerful, and hate things that tend to do the opposite.

That supposes that the people consuming the product were informed prior to their 'purchase' that the products are not 'intended for them'; both are seemingly marketed as products that all who exist would derive benefit and enjoyment from (edit. not that I am trying to point fingers here - imperfect market and all).

Let the seller beware - though, it's not like poor ratings from the get go from a proportion of the users would really hit these giants much.

cosx | 13 years ago | on: Show HN: TL;DRizer - an algorithmic summarizer webapp/api in java (weekend hack)

I have to say this summary seems to make the whole summly purchase a lot clearer for me, rightly or wrongly, intentional or not.

$30 million to have the entire tech sphere spread the word on how Yahoo are evolving and are going to make peronalised summarized on the go news a core feature seems like a bargain (there certainly is a market for something like that I would say -- or at the very least, if implemented well, it certainly would be nice to have feature -- possibly a habit changer).

They no longer seem to me at the very least, the old who are they again company that they once were.

It's a shame they won't be changing their name anytime soon though. That on it's own puts me off a little. Forgive me for the snark.
