"The idea that all of the world should be measured in dollars to stockholders is actually a relatively new idea. It used to be that we thought that businesses had their purpose. Your purpose was to be making newspapers or fountain pens or whatever. And now we act as though the only purpose of a business was to enrich the people who trade it on Wall Street… Of course you’ve got to have profit, of course you’ve got to support your ownership. But that’s not why we’re doing it. We’re doing it because publishing a newspaper is a crucial thing to be doing." ~Andy Barnes

Companies use to be temporary, created for the public good (like building bridges) and did not exist to make a profit.

Seams like Automattic went the right way with using WordPress and their P2 Theme for internal use. [0] Departments, groups, or people can have their own "boards". Within that you can write posts or comment, mention people. The P2 theme is great for one liners to walls of text and pictures. Plenty of plugins to expand as need desire...

> Confusing how the wind is animated, nothing else is; for example, the temp, precipitation, etc.

There is a play button in the bottom left to animated the currently selected heat map over time.

>> Pay more than the average of $4.56 to unlock!

I find that to be an interesting idea, since the average will only increase over time.

>> Independent variables on the x-axis and dependent variables on the y.

Correct. The independent variable being the number of items and the dependent variable being the time it takes to run said number of items.

>> Time should be on the x-axis.

Time should be on the y-axis. It's the time it takes to execute, given a set of items.

Also, it's not unsolicited when people are voluntarily reading what he wrote.

But what assumptions are people making? It's easy to say you want equality of wealth, but life is more complex than that. There are clearly paths in life that can take you down to the lowest low or to the highest high, both from the same starting point. I went to high school with kids who's parent all had similar social status and weath, but our personalities created a wide wealth gap between us.

> The overall effect is individuals become progressively more far-sighted.

What does this mean for nearsighted people? Does it have a correcting affect or do objects at any distance become blurry?

This is a great way for Wefunder to attract future funders to their site. Besides the traditional name and email address for a signup list, they're also finding out how much people are willing to fund each year. To add to that, it's also an open list where you can see who and how many people are going in on it. One way to solve the chiken-and-egg problem.
