Same here. Both copies I ordered were not working on arrival. I tried to switch the batteries but they were really stuck in there (can’t easily remove them without bending/breaking), eventually got them out and replaced them but one of the copies still didn't work. Reached out to the creator but he just said try swapping the batteries. I still think the idea of the book is great, just wish the execution and support were better.

Location: Vancouver, Canada Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: No.

I'm an experienced machine learning engineer, software developer, and author of 2 patents in ML/AI. I'm an EGBC-licensed professional engineer and I have a BASc in Mechatronics Engineering and 10 years of overall experience in software development. I've developed and shipped end-to-end machine learning products and features across different platforms (web services, mobile apps, and embedded systems). I enjoy building practical machine learning systems from prototype to production that have a positive impact on people's lives.

Thanks for your time.

Clear and concise write-up, thanks for posting. I especially appreciate the comparative graph at the end.

In practice, I tend to use "method 3" most of the time as I feel it has the best balance of complexity and practicality while still being able to deal with label noise.

I'm not the author of this work. I just found it earlier today and submitted it. I agree it is awesome.

I agree, Mindstorms are really good. If they're not that used to programming yet they can start off using the graphical programming language (NXT-G). Then, when they're ready to really dig in, they can start using C.

ddv | 10 years ago | on: Ask HN: As an EE graduate, should I rush into becoming a Software Engineer?

I graduated with a traditional engineering degree too and the start of my career sounds similar to yours.

Here's my advice: Pursue what you are interested in. If you don't you will always have a nagging what-if feeling in the back of your mind. Nothing is set in stone and if you decide later that the EE path is more appealing you can get back into it later.

It might be a little harder to switch back but IMO the reward is worth the risk. Since you're a recent graduate, right now is a good time to try stuff out.

Good luck.

ddv | 10 years ago | on: How I killed app sales by going freemium

After averaging $5.00/day for a year with my iOS app using a freemium model ($1.99 in-app purchase), I decided to switch to a paid upfront model just to test. It resulted in a sustained average of $25/day. That's a big deal to me and so counter to everything I read about freemium being the only way to go in today's mobile market.
