Not into politics, but what is the point? I neither understand BBC nor HN to publish a story like this one? It's notorious that Ramallah has shops like and other city, so in Israel, and people have normal life here. Just 2 month ago I got a interview for a company (freightos) which has both branch in jerusalem (west) and ramallah, so I suppose that people success to get their things together somehow?

dehef | 7 years ago | on: EUD Security Guidance: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

A weird thing occurred to my installation a month ago. I was on previous ubuntu version (17).

According to a wireshark scan, there was a strange UDP continous stream, even with all applications closed. My computer was reaching several IP in Europe. The text of the stream was encrypted, I was just seeing "...token..." or thing like that.

I formatted and installed Ubuntu 18, the network is clean now.

I'm pretty sure I add some kind of malware, I have no idea what it was, it's very suspicious.

No way to build my npm dependencies. So the day github would really crash/lost some files, the package decency system thing is dead. That is a very exciting scenario... as exiting as if google would forget to renew google.com and would have no legal right to get it back.

You own a downgrade + a response :) Angular doesn't have to be cool to works. It's a mature framework. I find it very useful and I can do anything with it by now. Since it's ok with object oriented concept, and still actively backed by google, it will stay attractive in enterprise, most than any other js framework.

I use it in prod since 1 year yes.

Angular is totally ready to be use in prod since a long time now.

Very easy to update:

2-> 4 no gap but my project was starting

4-> 5, very few things on a already big project. In my case the HttpModule, and some internationalization adjustment.

dehef | 8 years ago | on: Flexbox and Grids: your layout’s best friends

When using conditionnal arrival of dom object (I mean like using ngIf in Angular or simply using switching display none/block on some block) flexbox layout seem very difficult to anticipate. For that kind of things I still prefer using inline-block, that is more predictable.

A tip: Strangely Safari tend to need flex-basis value everywhere

Totally agree with the message

But I dont understand why people nowaday need to bring wiseness from Einstein.

If someone is good in physic, that is not a proof by itself that he is right in other fields. Same thing with rich people. Why people trust more someone who have the opportinity/chance to successfully win big amount of money? I mean that is impressive but still?

Both the scientific an the rich deserve more respect than others actually, but it is not a reason to treat them as gurus

dehef | 8 years ago | on: Why I use Object Pascal

In my university (in Paris) we used to learn programming that way for the licence degree

1st year -> pascal only

2nd year -> c only

3d year -> java only

That was a very nice learning curve for the core course of programming.

dehef | 8 years ago | on: 'Our minds can be hijacked': tech insiders who fear a smartphone dystopia

I made exactly the same move.

I can recommend K9 as the best self-control app.

I use it with recommended settings + any social media. I thinking about adding linkedin to the list. Maybe one day Hacker news also :)

I now use a basic phone after years using a iphone.

You know why?

I had some jobs interviews 2 years ago, and I had many problem to answer basic questions. I felt a so powerfull programmer.. But my memory was not as strong that I though.

I remember how it was before, when I was in my university. I used to know how to learn new things. And at 34 I cant think its just age. I think that google already hi jack a part of my learning process...

I can't work without google or searching SO time to time but I will for sure stop using social media, and I will try more and more to learn like I used to. Like watching video and taking note on a real paper.

But for next generations that is a real problem I think
