I think "exploding" was an unfortunate choice of words, and that was supposed to mean they are selling a lot(they seem to be popular in Brazil and are considererd high end).

It has been some time since I used linux, but in Windows, for your first question you just close the lid on your notebook or lock the screen(suspend), and for the "hard logout", you just logout, I thought Ubuntu used to work like this. PS: english is not my first language.

I am brazilian and I am assuming OP is too, Amazon prices in Brazil are cheaper than the competition, simply because the local oferrings are really expensive.
