on: Why doctors in America earn so much
That doesn’t mean we have a market. I was billed $1000 for en ECG for example. I wouldn’t have paid for it. It’s a simple procedure that doesn’t require a genius or advanced equipment. I’d rather an immigrant with a foreign degree look at it for $80 than a licensed American doctor for $1000. I’m not allowed to do so. I can’t choose the quality of care I get.

on: Why doctors in America earn so much
There are insane controls on supply. It’s not a free market. Everyone has to choose a Ferrari treatment or not go to the doctor. There’s no budget option.

The AMA issue is not new. In “capitalism and freedom” 1962, Milton Friedman wrote that it will turn into a cartel, then it did.

on: Organization probably doesn't want to improve things
God points but:
1) For someone in BigCo it is fun to read.
2) BigCo is not a bad place for most people. Management should just shut up about efficiency and data driven. No one believes them, not even themselves.

The article has good arguments for Nvidia losing market share, not losing supremacy. The title is mostly clickbait.

I remember going on a road trip through Arizona and seeing a lot of farms using sprinklers. This result doesn’t surprise me.

I like the results, but a part of the improvement is due to the increase in contrast, clarity and sharpness. Photoshop can get you half way through.

on: GitHub staff are required to use Teams by Sep 1, 2023
I use it and I would be happy if Teams was able to do basic copy/paste. When you copy, it copies things you didn’t select and doesn’t copy some things you selected. When pasting, it auto-formats the text and does a terrible job at it. It’s a disaster. I hope the Teams team is forced to use Teams.

on: Potato Publicity Stunts
This publicity stunt is pretty funny! He "surrounded his potato patch at Sablons with armed guards during the day to suggest valuable goods, withdrawing them at night so people could steal the potatoes"

It is easier to appreciate public school when you grow up poor and your family is a disaster. That’s all I had, and it was my way out of poverty.

I just want my Mac and my iPhone to use the same charger. It’s not necessarily about the spending.

on: I don’t believe in sprints
Someone my team either had a second job or quiet quit, but according to Jira he was really productive. The reported metrics can’t be trusted. The worst part is that our manager was the only one that didn’t figure it out.

Hi, would you mind telling us what did you use for the voice? I thought it was quite good and would love to use it sometimes.
