I have played around with this product a few times over the last few months! It's getting better with every release. I used it for an internal work tool last week and was able to be up and running in less than an hour, where normally I'd have spent a day at it. Using the blocks lets me forget about the design as well.

Would recommend everyone have play with it!

Its nothing they are not already doing! They are just looking for a way to use the methods more openly and then they can disclose evidence that usually stays hidden ("An anonymous tip brought him to our attention") in criminal trials and prosecutions.

In my opinion a prototype is used to prove there is a market for your product and attract seed investment.

An MVP is then created with the help of that seed investment and launched to help greater substantiate your product and attract further funding.

The Dropbox video is a good idea. It may not be a prototype but it created enough hype for them to show investors that there was a market and demand for what they were building. My only concern is that if you are creating a product in a new market you are potentially giving away a lot of your first mover advantage with that tactic.
