Really great dive into the various workers buying real estate in SF. I did wish they at least quantified how much data is missing due to the LLC purchases excluded from the analysis, but it's a great breakdown of both which company's employees are purchasing houses in SF and where.

Neat! Thanks for the info.

Edit: to add on about Kafka, it guarantees a serializable ordering on the incoming messages and is driven internally by a vector clock. This may not be suitable for applications, but the throughput is high and allows multiple subscribers to get a consistent ordering.

The article lists several on the team. They’re mostly senior executives, data scientists and engineers. Tech companies are like glaciers, 20 people at the tip of this project will be leveraging all of FB’s internal tooling and might be able to get more done.

Also, it would be difficult and maybe a waste of effort to try to scale a team faster than that, with midterms so close. For sure they can increase headcount if it’s successful.

One possible explanation for why user's skip behavior varies by time of day/week is that they're more likely to be playing songs around friends. A lot of times you'll want to show just one part of a song to someone, or you want to manage several requests for songs when you're out.
