I didn't--I just went with the default recommendations based on my designated interests.

I just tried searching for "dating websites" and it returned: Modern reliquaries & New Commodore 64, Sexy beast & Ben Kingsley, Pretty Mouth And Green My Eyes & Raymond Carver

While I do like Raymond Carver, I'm not sure if I find these connections intuitive...do you suggest search terms that are more abstract?

Also out of curiosity, what did Brian Eno say? :)

I agree--I am very impressed by your splash page (both design and copy) but I feel like it wasn't consistent with what you get once you sign up. For me, I was expecting something similar to Brian Eno's "Oblique Strategies" from the description (i.e. more vague, abstract suggestions), but it turned out to be more like Random Wikipedia.

This looks really useful! This isn't meant to be a criticism, but I was wondering how your website will overcome the issue of people not wanting to publicize their favorite work spot to prevent overcrowding? Also, from your experiences so far, are cafes happy to have people sit in their shop for extended periods? My impressions are that while some places (cough, nice people in Portland) encourage such behavior, others may not take to campers so nicely.

I began typing a response but after some thought, I realize that the answer to your dilemma is complicated by the fact that you may seek 2 positive outcomes rather than 1 for your problem. Here's a potential solution:

"Work-Productive" Saturday

computer/coding related and results in a viable product

+ full-time involvement by other participating individuals

= hackathon/co-founder meetup for projects (perhaps non-profit ones would circumvent IP/competitive issues?)

"Personal-Productive" Sunday

not drinking/pub related

+ can result in friendships/relationships

= any activity that you truly enjoy/want to try out that is NOT computer-related and NOT solitary by default (e.g. going to the gym to lift weights, while is a great activity, may not be recommended for this purpose because it's hard to chat people up when they are concentrating on their new max reps. Whereas a team sport that requires communication may be more amenable.)
