the only thing that keeps me from migrating from DO to Hetzner is the lack of monitoring agent on the latter. its really nice to set up some hdd & cpu alerts from within cloud provider control panel directly.

i have exactly the same feelings/experiences. i started to ride a bike when pandemic begun and it really improved my comfort of living and ovearll "mental" attitude. its really not about fitness but more like a therapy for a brain to reset. its best to ridea in areas where you can be close to the nature as the presence of nature also contributes

grzes | 3 years ago | on: Ask HN: Have you set up a procedure to disclose your passwords in case of death?

i have.

basically i created separate KeePass database and put all things i want to disclose there (like banks passwords, mobile unlock pattern etc.). what's nice about keepass is that you can store media files like images besides passwords.

this database is in Google Drive and shared with my relative. the password to the database is printed on paper and stored in the envelope - any my relative knows where to search for this envelope in case something happens.

wondering if i should switch handlebars to narrower one. so currently i have 56 frame with 42 handlebars - thats "factory" setup. i noticed that also 54 frame has this handlebars, only 52 size frame comes with 40. anyone has any experiences how it will affect bike handling? i noticed that there is a trend rising to go with narrower handlebars on gravel bikes

so i bought a folding bike from decathlon about 1.5yr ago and never been happier since. its following model:

https://www.decathlon.fr/p/velo-pliant-oxylane-120/_/R-p-120...

they actually went up in price since then. swapped stock tires because they were rubbish and also bought better seatpost from upper model. removed all the unneccessary stuff like ringer or mudguards and this thing flies. im getting average speed about 18km/h on my rides and done about 4000km so far without any problems. this is perfect city bike in my opinion. if this thing had disc brakes it would be even better.

i think 1366x768 resolution on 15.6 inch screen is perfect in terms of UI elements size. like its a sweet spot between to small and too large with enought horizontal area.

physical width of such 15.6 inch screen is 34.53 cm so it gives you 0,025285037 cm per pixel.

so my "perfect" laptop would have 15.6 inch screen and 16:10 aspect ratio. i would double the resolution in order to avoid fractional scaling and use 200% scaling so final resolution would be 2732x1708 - anyone can recommend something close to that on the market?

Hi there HN!

i'd like to share with you a side-project i've been working on recently. To describe it shortly - its browser-based subtitle searcher & converter. You can think of it as a really simplistic clone of opensubtitles.org for instance.

The project is open-source :) You can find the repository here:

https://github.com/kickasssubtitles/kickasssubtitles

I would greatly appreciate your feedback. I have plans to add more site-translations and expose an API in the future.

Cheers!
