hastes | 3 years ago | on: Ask HN: How do you use Notion?

Just started using, feels amazing and really snappy to use (I've seen many complaints in the other direction). Started organizing all my projects and persona things into kanbans, added some tables for subscriptions and other things I rarely keep track of. Loving it so far, especially how many features are for free.

Why doesn't Apple just buy Peloton and add it to the vast network of Apple products that they can slowly kill and release a better version like they did with Beats?

Pelosi makes millions during the 'deadliest pandemic in history' and no one turns an eye. Problem is this will fade away like every single other important topic of these ruling elites, who don't give a single f*k about you or me or any social issues.

They are plainly there to shove through their friends interests, profit off of insider information, and get out without going to jail. Every single one of them.

Quite unfortunate, I haven't seen this before but I will be giving it a look.

Our original name 2 years ago was Nexus, but we couldn't get any domain we liked regardless of contacting squatters for years. Oh well.

Hey HN, I have been working on this for years and the final product is finally done.

We did a tiny bit of work to rush it out the door in the wake of 'alternative social network' hype, sure. However, we are extremely proud of what we have created, and do truly believe that our system could foster a better environment for thoughtful discussion going forward.

Our team is monitoring this thread and would love to hear any feedback possible.

With love, H

My mother and grandmother both had it.

My mother worked out on the Peloton every single day, didn't miss one workout, and said that she was fine. She experienced mild symptoms and loss of smell and fevers, but other than that she was fine.

My grandmother was rushed to the hospital because she is in the prime age range and has just about every single previous condition you could imagine for someone pushing 90. She was diagnosed with Covid and Pneumonia, felt like shit for a while, and was release and is now fine.

I am not saying the virus is not real or isn't serious, but at some point we need to stop only looking at number of confirmed cases, and start digging a little deeper before we start spreading all of this rash fear.

hastes | 6 years ago | on: Fed to inject $1.5T to prevent ‘unusual disruptions’ in markets

Really love how people are on Twitter and other outlets blaming this action on Trump already when it literally has absolutely nothing to do with him and he has opposed almost all action the Fed has taken so far. Social media and the hive mind read the title and not the information mentality is really getting tiring for me..

hastes | 6 years ago | on: “I Don’t Think the Virus Can Be Stopped Anymore”, Says Harvard Epidemiologist

I wasn't referring directly to this article with the "fearmongering" opinion. However, in regards to Lipsitch's analysis he uses a lot of "may be, we don't know, etc.." speculation that seems to hint that even the experts don't quite have the full grasp of the situation yet either.

I am all for safety and notifying the public of immediate threats, and taking the correct precautions. But, at this point it seems increasingly that these predictions and analysis are being too quickly released with not enough information so you get great amounts of speculation which therein fuels panic.

That people love to fearmonger for views and ratings, also they want someone to blame that has absolutely nothing to do with the outbreak.

Personally I think this entire thing is blown extremely out of proportion by the media (at least in the US, where we are rated #1 at preventing things like this). Compare it at the same time to swine flu and the results are extremely interesting.

I use Azure at work, honestly the Kuberentes/Docker support is pretty awesome. Not to mention the fact that they only run garbage collection after 28 days so if you accidentally destroy a production bucket with user images in it, support can easily get it back to you. (Yes this happened before)

How in any way could me saying that he used buzzwords and quick insults, which he did, with me having "blind devotion" to poll numbers and hatred for him.

I don't hate anyone, and as far as the devotion to poll numbers. I am one of the people that heavily doubts poll numbers, and I am skeptical of these results as well, but I also personally believe that the statement the poll is making is true.

I would be glad to debate the merits, results, methodology, sample size, or any other variable with you if you want.
