OP doesn't bring up the different temperature and pressure differential of heat sources. That's a huge red flag. For all we know the CTO role at that company was entirely focused on keeping the staff laptops running and is largely disconnected from the fundamentals of heat to electricity generation. Why the hell would she (or he) ask here when (s)he has current or former colleagues in the industry to ask.

My BS detector went off immediately.

When writing code you have a mental model of the machine, and the language and libraries. Back in the day those mental models could be close enough to reality that writing bug free code could be a choice. It would take time but you can essentially run the program in your head.

This is an old timer, back when machines and abstractions were simpler.

The post makes sense in that context, but today you can't have a complete mental model of the thing you're coding. It's impossible. So bugs.

Maybe we need to simplify.

Yea - I wish I had the time to write one which understands differential impedence, matched lengths etc.

Perhaps one exists, I don't know as I try to only use open source.

As other here have said, this is very good advice.

Early on I tried to only use components in available libraries. That was a mistake. Start doing your own footprints and symbols from the start

My company has some pretty unique global shutter 360 camera footage, both indoors and out with precision GPS. Going back about 7 years. In all sorts of environments. It's quite a unique dataset and might be interesting to use for your project.
