True, I don't know you, but you've now given some information to work with. With a 300k income, you should be able to put away 50k a year without problem. That's a 20% downpayment after 3 years for a 750k house. (If you can't save 50k a year then that's because of lifestyle choices like what car you drive, when and how much you eat out and where you go on vacation. That's fine, but your choice, so don't complain.)

> There’s a huge difference between being rich (or wealthy, not the same) and simply having more than someone else.

No. That's basically the definitions of those concepts. They are relative to how well off everybody else is.

Except the real world is experienced with more senses than the eyes. VR is currently still visual-only. In the real world, any visual defects are worked around by the brain using other sensory inputs. No such possibilities with visual-only VR.

If you are ever in the situation, what will you do?

I will certainly peform CPR. Even after reading the article. Why? Most likely the person is dead anyway, no harm done. But if I don't do it, chances are their family sue me for millions. Especially in the US. Unlikely to succeed, but the risk is far from 0. If they win, my life is ruined. I the face of that, I might even consider a settlement for a large sum. Also terrible. So yeah, sorry old ladies.

Such articles, a much as I appreciate the educative effects, could even make this worse, since if it's more widely known then I could get sued in either case. Like, I did CPR, lady dies anyway but there were clear signs that she suffered. Great, now I'll have a lawsuit in addition to the trauma of having crushed the ribs of an old lady.

I would. People in the tech bubble don't understand their privilege. If everybody you interact with daily makes less than you then you are rich. Or how does you total compensation compare to that of the Walmart worker, the guy behind the McD counter, you hair dresser, the lady cleaning your office toilets or the waiter at your lunch restaurant or staffer at the bouldering gym? You think they get stocks?

> I sometimes wish why can't we unbundle these left vs right issues and decide stuff case by case.

That's the opposite of what we should do. If you do case by case then people will always find reasons why it's no big deal if "their" side did it while it's really bad when the other side did it.

No, we need to universally condemn this. No matter who did it and when and how. This is lying and propaganda, and it's bad even if I agree with the ends. But the means are to be condemned by everybody.

Kind of the dual to "I disagree with what you are saying but I'll fight for your right to say it." It's now "I agree with what you are trying to achieve but I'll fight against the way in which you are trying to achieve it."

Geez. Techies trying to come up with tech solutions to fundamentally non-tech problems. The photogtapher can just zoom in or get closer to the object to crop the image before it's even taken.

Oh you now want a 360 degree shot to prove this didn't happen? Well then they stand behind a tree or a car or some other object to hide parts of the scene behind. etc. etc. There is no technical solution to this problem.
