I've taken to using a using an electric hand mixer directly in the jar. It gets the peanut butter thoroughly mixed very quickly. As one might expect, it can go wrong spectacularly if you aren't careful.

hrwl | 12 years ago | on: iOS 7: Catch me if you can

I think you could argue the control center is borrowed from Android (although the iOS 7 version looks kinda spiffier). The interface for moving between apps is similar. I had to open Safari to see your comparison. The demo I see on the product page for iOS7 reminds me more of Android than Safari. I remember seeing a few other things in the WWDC presentation but I don't remember what they were.

All that said, I hope both sides "steal" good ideas early and often.

hrwl | 13 years ago | on: Why Do Chrome Extensions Need to Access All My Data?

Am I paranoid for not wanting to install any extensions in Chrome? There are some I'd like to use, Feedly is an example, but I can't get past the part of allowing them access to anything on any website. I would prefer something that lets you allow access on a case by case basis.

hrwl | 13 years ago | on: SimCity Burning: A Warning to Publishers on The Dangers of Always-Online DRM

I think it's very hard to say how much of the simulation is happening online. When I was playing last night I repeatedly got messages saying I'd been disconnected and then a few minutes later that I was reconnected. The game played fine between those messages. That said, I did notice some weirdness. For example, sewage and electricity and water would be perfectly fine one moment and then the next they would be way overloaded. I could interpret this as meaning the that part of the sim was happening online, or I could chalk it up to just being how the game goes.

I also ran into what many others have seen in the first few days. I built up a large city over a few hours and then quit. When I started back up, nothing was there. The city was claimed but it was a clean slate. You might see this from any number of things. Maybe the sim is all on the computer. Maybe the saves are just borked. Maybe the saves are fine on one node but haven't been replicated to whatever node I my request got load balanced to when i reconnected.

hrwl | 13 years ago | on: Go as an alternative to Node.js for Very Fast Servers

I have never understood the focus on speed as a selling point for Node. It may well be very fast, but it seems to me that the primary selling points would be the ability to share code between client and server and that you can start coding server side without learning a new language if all you know is JavaScript.
