on: Ask HN: Those who quit their jobs to travel the world, how did it go?
I believe there is a spectrum with individuality on one end and community at opposite end. The closer we get to one the further we are from the other. I assume that leaving your culture has brought you closer to your self and many of the securities that lie within the pack have disappeared. Perhaps by getting comfortable with the discomfort(easier said than done) new experiences await you??

My experience is that it was an awesome brain hack! Sit around do nothing and gain extraordinary clarity and
intense focus. My thoughts were "how did i get here? do they put something in the food?". Then i served 10 days(prep'd food) and witnessed others similarly affected.

on: Ask HN: MacBook Pro alternative for running GNU/Linux
I was in similar shoes a couple weeks ago. After a few T??? lenovos crapping out (It was always the dang video cards) I just could not buy another. My first replacement was a behemoth of a dell xps 15. Unfortunately the quad core could not make up for the size and poor build quality. The 2gb nvidia optimus video incompatability with linux sealed the deal. It had to go! DO NOT buy a laptop with optimus if you are planning on using linux. To make a long story short i am running an elitebook 840 i7 which came with a 256gb samsung 840 pro. Archlinux installed without too much fuss.
I could not be happier! Its fantastic-well built, small, and powerful. You will love it even more if you are acustomed to using a trackpoint.
Im so glad i did not listen to those marginal reviews re: this unit.
Re: Arch maintenance, a daily 'pacman -Syu' will usually keep your system running healthy. Arch does not like to be ignored for too long. ^_^

on: Skunk Works Reveals Compact Fusion Reactor Details
What dilemma? Its a no brainer we use it for free and have the rest of the world use it at a $profit$, while getting to enjoy that very same clean(er) air. But as history has shown it is probably too good to be true. Fusion that is.
Edit: We are all riding the same spaceship... Its a serious flaw in thinking 'us vs them' when we are beginning to experiene some of the results in climate change.

on: Judge Rejects Defense That FBI Illegally Hacked Silk Road, on a Technicality
Ah! You present a great logical argument to disuade one from the point. After all who could be for kiddie pr0n? Regardless of what Ulbricht did what the GOV is doing is where the focus ought to be as its resulting in the ebbing of our freedoms! Thats what this is about not drugs, sex nor monies. Although impossible to prove its likely we are witnessing some form of parallel reconstruction.

I make the best MoFro burritos and tacos. I'll come and cook for everyone! I think the tequila is worse than the burritos though. o,0

That seems to be the golden question here.

Its a little distorted to me at least, that the very people we employ would take a perspective of granting concent to its employers.

on: NSA admits listening to U.S. phone calls without warrants
Here we have a great tool at our diposal(internet) and all we can do is use it to bitch, moan and compare notes. Surprisingly, politicians feel they can do as they please. Its a shame we cannot organize and do something about it. I wonder what effect(s) striking for a week would have? Typically solutions are of equal proportion to the problem at hand. But its so inconvenient-i know. A less affected Hong Kong has held a rally but here those most impacted-nothing. Ughh im tired of reading this shit. We deserve everything we get.
Or we could take this as a challenge to see how many people we can get to strike. So much talent here... How will it end?
