I concur. One big pain point is how small the buttons are to change songs. I'm usually driving when listening to Apple music and would love it if I had huge buttons or could go vertical for driving model which made it dead simple. Nope, let's make it hard so my eyes go off the road.

This and it also seems like Apple has given up on a lot of their playlists. Adding one song per week doesn't count as updated playlist. For how many billions they generate, you'd think you could just have an army of people making amazing playlists.

Personally I like to start my businesses in coworking spaces because I hate them and it makes me motivated to move out as quickly as possible.

I always thought WeWork was strange. Most people’s goal is the same, get out as soon as you’re ready.

jasonwilk | 8 years ago | on: Ask HN: Who is hiring? (February 2018)

Dave.com is hiring senior engineers in LA.

We are building the bank of the future, starting with killing overdraft fees. We just raised our Series A from top tier.

Feel free to reach out to me directly. I'm the CEO. Email in bio.

I remember meeting the founder in the demo pit of TechCrunch 50 back in 2008. Remarkable perseverance. Happy to see it work for people who stick it out.

Have loved TechMeme since the beginning. Awesome product. My only dig is that it is not very useful until about 10-11am PST. After that, I check it a 3-5 times per day.

It's not worth buying any of these 'Smart' TVs. I don't know whether it is a shoddy developer experience provided by the likes of Samsung / Vizeo etc or if it's the developers themselves (Hulu I'm looking at you) who do not maintain their apps which are constantly bug filled.

I much prefer my old dumb TV that has a Roku plugged into it. Oh yeah, and I know it's not WATCHING ME.

jasonwilk | 9 years ago | on: Lyft Loses $600M in 2016 as Revenue Rises to $700M

To me these losses could be completely justified. It's a simple calculation of two companies (Uber and Lyft) who perceive customer LTV to be huge so they are tripling down on acquiring customers, drivers, etc.

The only way I see this as a disaster scenario is if rides are operating at a negative margin in hopes automation will eventually solve that problem as it's not clear either of these companies will even win the automation race.

jasonwilk | 9 years ago | on: Los Angeles Drivers on the 405 Ask: Was $1.6B Worth It?

Traffic in Los Angeles is in a sad state. I have moved my house and office to within 2.5 miles of eachother so that I never need to see a freeway. I am fortunate to be able to do so. There is heavy traffic all the time, even when you least suspect it. It's no way to live.

jasonwilk | 9 years ago | on: Soylent Thinks It Found What Was Making People Sick: Algae

I'm a fan of Soylent but I wouldn't say things like 'Soylent prides itself on rapid product development—an ideal popularized by Google and Facebook Inc.'

Things that are going into my body should not be rapidly developed and released. It's slightly different than Facebook launching a new feature that may or may not break.

jasonwilk | 9 years ago | on: Snapchat Seeks to Raise as Much as $4B in IPO

You should add a 4th V which is very important to why advertisers are liking SnapChat, which is Volume. SnapChat ads naturally have sound on and users expect it to be that way; another element to its similarities to television advertising.
