on: A failure mode I hit building semantic search for long-form content
One thing that surprised me was how quickly inferred constraints went from “helpful” to “harmful” once real users were involved. Curious if others have found good heuristics for when to trust interpretation vs defer it.

on: Hire a former SoundClouder
Is there a way to add my company to the list of recruiters or export it as a .xls/.csv.
GrowingStartup.com would love to work with some of these people.
I'm glad to see how supportive everyone is.

on: Ask HN: Failed startup, lost $110K need some advice
Yes I know the feeling. What I did was I found out the single most engaging feature/benefit of my product and built that into a business. I used contractors instead of a full team to lower costs and financed the startup from a salary I got from a new job.
Email me at [email protected] if you have any other questions.

on: Tesla and Solar City Combine
What I like about this is that it's an integration of Elon's ethos. If you owned Starbucks and the biggest coffee plantation wouldn't you find a way to merge them?

on: Lecture 12: Building for the Enterprise
What's interesting about Box is that they've succeeded to charge enterprise clients with a service that should be a commodity by now. They've also taken the route of graduating consumer interest into enterprise use. Their quick advance into mobile was good thinking.

on: Uber and Lyft Have Become Indistinguishable Commodities
The sharing economy has a common core I.e uber,Lyft, airbnb. Social currency and brand equity will make one win over the other. What customers remember to say about the brand is what will make someone remember to either open their uber or Lyft app the next time they need a ride. If I were in charge of their marketing id invest heavily in product placement for at least a year.

on: Twitter is not dying. It’s on the cusp of getting much bigger
The one reason I think Twitter will be valuable for a while is that there whole concept of getting your news in less than 200 characters will always be more appealing than many of the other options available. The future will center around focus.
