on: Windows Phone Is Failing Because It’s Great
I still don't understand why the xPhone doesn't exist. This has always seemed like the obvious direction for Microsoft from a brand perspective. Use the phone as an extension of the 360 and do some really cool things with it - messaging hub, video chatting, go all in on games. It's just crazy to me this doesn't exist.

on: Standing Up For Android
I work for a pretty successful app company for iOS/Android and I wouldn't call the free/paid busted by any means. We have ranked as high as 5 in our category on Android in paid and it is not a substantial amount of money. Our free product on the other hand that is ad supported is absolutely killing it.

on: Show HN: Namerick - an app for people who forget names
Are the namericks normally that offensive? Is that a specific memory cue? I would be interested to know if that is or not. For example I made one for my friend Brooke and clicked generate namerick. The first two items that came up were brooke bangs boys and brooke the Blower.

You are dead on about Facebook. Imagine if the conversation shifts from whats your phone number to whats your identity. A persons phone number is becoming increasingly less important.

Couldn't this mean a number of things? 1. The device isn't fully sealed. 2. Isn't there always going to be air unless you cover each area of the device and seal it off?

on: California appeals court approves cell phone search during traffic stop
Im curious if this has any impact to people who have their phone password protected. "Here, you are more than welcome to go through my phone....just need to guess the password." You can't even hook your iPhone up to iTunes without inputting that password, so I can't imagine those phone searching devices can bypass that altogether.

on: Sprint Confirms It Will Offer Unlimited Pricing for iPhone
Exactly. 69.99$ is a win for them. $79.99 is not. They should kill that "premium smartphone" fee. Or at least kill it for people willing to switch from verizon or ATT. 5$ a month is not reason enough for me to go through with the hassle to switch. 15$ a month is.

It would be great to do something like this for an election. A heatmap for people who voted #red or #blue. Seems like a lot of neat uses for this.

I didn't quite know what to expect when visiting the site with a name textlaundry.com As tacky as it sounds proofreadmypaper.com would be much "cleaner" (excuse the irony).
Props on launching. I think your provide a useful service. I love the idea of submitting my paper immediately and getting a quote.

Can there please, please, please be a way to disable the chat sound if I am not on the tab. I understand the experience is supposed to be social, but I may jump back and forth between tabs or not be in that tab at all, yet I keep hearing the swooshing noise. It's unlistenable.

This is an interesting hypothesis, certainly not the first thing that came to my mind, but an interesting thought. Why Google would want to buy Groupon at this point is beyond me (perhaps for their gigantic sales force and access to local businesses) but I guess you never know. I don't think there is anyway Google offers Groupon the amount they previously did.

I think they are just going after something people really don't want. People don't want to see what their friends are doing because chances are its nothing. This appeals to 5% (the scobles) of the social world. They aren't solving a problem that sally facebook has.
